roadster = lightweight
awd = great traction
hybrid = great fuel economy
2grfxe = 295 hp (gas + electric combined)

can't ask for anything more, except to fix the hideous appearance and somehow incorporate fully manual transmissions (to hybrid engines).

I highly doubt the Celica line will return, will the Deuce line return?? that is very questionable. I just hope Toyota doesnt be an idiot again and enlist another car company for its motor.

Interesting. To add the lights are a nice style, but dont really suit the car & the wing mirrors need to be lower

moved to the off topic section smile.gif

Not a MR2. Never will be a MR2.

Mid engine Rear wheel drive. This car lacks the RWD aspect.

MR2 and Celica being revived? don't count on it. Is this a new car concept that is inspired by the sporty nature of the MR2 and Celica? yes.

I like it.
the front end picture doesn't look like an S2000, it IS an S2000
The rear end looks like an Elise
and its waist is unremarkable. I definitely agree that it needs some lower mirrors. maybe only by an inch or two, but they seem to stick up too much. I'd probably put the bottom of them even with the top of the door.

too bad it'll be another 15 years before this sees the street.

Honestly, as long as it comes in Toyota brand and Not Scion.... (Yes I know it's all the same but to me it isn't, the very name Toyota itself has the best history) and was even enough to compete stock wise with the cars of today. I don't care how it looks, I'll still support Toyota. Lately... I have been growing a sadness with them.

Actually MR means mid-ship runabout. Runabout standing for roadster not RWD, so they can get away with the MR on a technicality.

Also it wont be a toyota because scion is now toyotas (and i put this loosely a posible) "performance" line, just like the prius is getting its own line. It's already been stated in press releases. The toyota that we grew up with is dead, no longer will we see the inline 6 monsters or the s**t n' get 4wd rally cars frown.gif, and thats why I work for honda now because they at least know how to make a car that is worth driving.

On a last note the celica was never stopped they just renamed it the tc (refer back to my statement about scion).

False. Only with the 3rd gen MR-S did it officially turn to mid-ship runabout... And we all know the 3rd gen doesn't count for sh!t.

Why doesn't it count? Compared to stock 5sfe/4age 1st/2nd gen(most common in the US); its faster, it handles better, has a better weight ratio, for engine swaps it has the 2zz which you can supercharge for quicker response. Now does it look as good as the 2nd gen no, but thats like saying you would take a mid 90's 911 over a new 911.

You also have to remember the 2nd gen mr2 was made 2 decades ago to a car company its outdated and useless...

It didn't respect the heritage of the MR2. There was no performance model, only the one option. It was convertible only - not a hardtop, sunroof, and t-top. There is no trunk, just the frunk. It's power/weight ratio is lower than the previous two generations, the interior is cheap and doesn't have the same cockpit feel that the AW11 and SW20 have...

I can go on for days about why the 3rd gen is an abomination - frankly it doesn't surprise me that Toyota did what they did, because it was a vehicle that lived and died during that transition Toyota made into only making Beige-mobiles.

And it isn't at all like saying I would take a mid 90's 911 over a new 911. Not even comparable.

Everyone says that but the supra sold at $50-100k. I doubt those who want it back will be right there waiting to buy it when it hits the dealerships. That's why it hasn't came back.

One thing for sure, it sure makes the last MR2 look bad.
