So I was wondering what the best spray paint would best match my celi (Baltic Blue Metallic). Also if anyone has pictures of how it matched up to their factory paint.

I figure this may be a good time for everyone to post what spray paint they have used to match their celi as well.

look on the inside of your door panel, go to a paint shop, tell them the code, and spray away. that's what i did. biggrin.gif

turned out pretty darn close too. I painted my lip and side skirts with it. my color is 6p3 green. if you don't know, there's a color guide somewhere on here too.

I saw the color guide but I wasn't sure if spray paint matched up to it

advanced auto only has basic paint, they're not car/color specific. if it's blue, it's just gonna be blue, not cobalt blue or metallic blue. just look around town, I'm sure there's a local paint shop somewhere.

spray can is cheap bt yeah you'll definatly have to go to an autopaint shop for it. I have the same color as you, NYp8 i sprayed my skirts. You just HAVE to laquer it when you're done or it will look a little of a different colour

I bought a can and the color came out good. Just input your year and you'll get all the colors for your year.

http://www.paintscratch.com

enter in your car info and pick your paint.

You can also enter the paint code and get it that way.

first time painting is alwasy fun because it takes twice as long. hahahaah laugh.gif laugh.gif

i didn't know what I was doing so I took it nice and slow. both the skirt and lip was painted white so i started out by sanding and sanding and then some more sanding.
then primered a few coats and sanded after that as well. let it dry and then sprayed the color on like crazy. I did drip a little becuase I sprayed too much but it's not noticable. just be sure to use light coats each time. first coat will look like nothing. then more sanding, then clear coat a few coats as well. you do have to wetsand the clear coat and buff it out to make it shine I used very fine sand paper 2000 and above I believe. just look up online on how-to paint. This was just my way of doing it. tongue.gif

I know how to apply the coats but its the prep before applying the actual paint that I need to learn again (been years). sand, primer, sand, paint (2-3 coats?), clear, sand, Then Im not sure what to use...I have Meguiars ultimate compound, will that work?

I used automotive touch up for both my Corvette and Celica. I painted my hood, front bumper, side skirts, front lip and riser blocks with their spray cans... here is how it came out.
