Issue 1, let us imagine that I give the engine the full beans in neutral and let off. As the revs fall past 2k, there's a ratcheting noise from the engine bay that lasts about half a second. Issue 2, she chirps. Under certain load, usually 2.5-3.5k in 3rd (auto, mind you) I can hear a chirping, it sounds like something just seriously wobbling. I'm thinking both of these are pulley or belt related. Timing belt hasn't been changed to my knowledge, car is at 95k and change. Dissection, criticism and help greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Fair enough. I was hoping somebody would chime in recognizing it as a common noise. Well, I'll be doing brake work within the next few weeks, so I'll check things over with my buddy. Bearings, belts, pulleys, might as well take the timing cover off and see what the story is there.

Does it help if I say that the chirp occurs only with load on the car, such as holding the car at a stop when idling in drive, or accelerating in light loads like I mentioned?

My idler for altenator was making a chirping when it was faulty...

Spray each pulley with lub and see if the noise changes, or use a pipe to ear until the squeeling gets louder. That should point your right to it.

exhaust rubbing or bad bearing in one of your accessories possibly a worn out belt rubbing something the wrong way.

or maybe an old rusty heat sheild

I've had a similar sound in the past (the chirping and rattling for me) but it turned out to be an exhaust leak.

I've got the same issue, I believe it is a belt and as far as I know the timing belt hasent been changed either so I want to replace them all, know where we could get those?
