nice.. what are you using to polish with?
perhaps it is the camera but i do not see any swerles or small scuffs from the media used to polish with. i did some polishing of SS and aluminum. and did it like this: 1:start with fine brass wire brush on right angle air tool. 2:medium grade steal wool. 3:then 0000 steal wool, with mothers aluminum polish. 4:finish with neverdul 5:final was only if i could, buff with bench grinder and drill mounted buffing wheel.. i like for the most part how mine turned out but still have aspects about it that i dont like... primarily the fact that i can get it nice and smooth and polished, but in the light you can still see swerles.. so what did you do to get such a nice finish? and deff keep it up, its a nice start.. cant wait to see the finished product!! -------------------- |

looking good, the best way to get a valve cover or any aluminum part to look its best is to sand the hell out of it untill you get to around 1500 grit and purchase either some aluminum compound/aluminum fine polish and use a wool pad on a buffer or get some felt/cotton buffs that attatch to your drill or better yet a stand grinder and different colored rouge wheels, the different colors means more aggressive or less aggressive, so thats what you need to remove the sanding marks unless you want to keep sanding till 4000 grit and use some polish found in auto parts stores. http://www.caswellplating.com is a great place to get products to polish metals, plastics, and glass.(i am no way associated with them they just have good product), another good line would be the blackfire aluminum compound/polish or wolfgang aluminum compound/polish. but those are more expensive but work great from the reviews ive seen.
