Midwest Meet, V2.0, July 14th, 2012 Options

Great turnout at the Spring meet guys. But, as usual, it's time to start planning the summer meet. Start signing up!

Setting this one up for July 14th. We'll be meeting at Starved Rock State Park again, at the usual Lone Point shelter off of Route 71, click here for a map.

We will be grilling, hiking, going for a cruise through the twisties, then possibly cruising towards Chicago for dinner. If you're up for it, then sign up!

If we are going to head into the city after the meet, it will be clearly defined EARLY ON.

It is going to take planning if we intend on bringing more than 5 cars into the city. I'd love to do it, but not if I'm going to have to listen to Jordan piss and moan about "oh, Chicago..... whine, whine, whine"

Everyone will need to stay overnight somewhere in/near the city, (not near 'the spot').

If people really want to, they'll have to plan to spend the whole weekend there.

I just hate driving in the city and the way traffic flows on side streets makes it hard to keep a large group together. Been there, done that. I got to the restaurant before everyone else, then they called me and said they were going somewhere else 5 miles away because 'it was too hard to get there'. If you have reservations at a time and there's parking I'm down.

I understand Jordan's concern with getting separated in Chicago. We don't necessarily need to go into the city itself. I didn't think Willowbrook was bad at all, or we could even stay local and eat somewhere near Starved Rock. Or we don't even have to make it a regular thing, since most of us have long drives home.

So how was the last meet, wasnt able to make it. But was representing 6GC at AutoMass @ Toyota Park in Bridgeview IL that following Sunday. Was the only 6GC there or only Celi at the event ;-/ . If anyone is close to Hoffman Estates IL car will be at Sears Centre competing in F class TSSCC event #2. Came in last place in my first event ever last Sunday, ran the track after it rained really horrible traction. If anyone is interested event is still open for May 20th http://www.tsscc.org, autox is fun as hell. Otherwise I hope to make it to this next meet if nothing comes up again.

i feel bad about forgetting to stick my camera to the side of the car when we went for the drive.. by the time i remembered about it we were already heading out.. this meet will be different though. this time ill be the first one there and will be able to video much much more than i would have been able to before.

Lol no worries Zach. It'll be hard to get good footage with an S54 and GT4 bumper in your trunk I don't know what the weather is like up north but if it's anything like it is here, then the last meet was freezing and this one will be unbearably warm

having that stuff in the back is a minor technicality, i should still be able to get decent footage this is why straps were made, to keep large chunks of metal from destroying the inside of a car when its flying around corners XD
and i HOPE that this meet will be hot! i am "cold blooded" so i need the heat to be able to do anything. (just ask anyone who really knows me, im ALWAYS freezing )

I'm exactly the opposite. I love my a/c. My IS 309 has an awesome air conditioner. I always challenge it to a game of freeze out and it always wins. That's with the thermostat set at 75. I'm not brave enough to turn it down to 60. Pictures of Frosty the Snowman driving an IBP IS 300 would emerge on the Internet.

Count me in, just checked my AutoX schedule, wow got event coming up on July 15th http://tsscc.org/ car#732 been coming in in last place in my class due to some issues.
So what am I supposed to bring with and I be rolling solo probably 99%.

I be in a '94 Blk hatch with TRD wing unless it wont want to move, look for me in Blk S13 coupe.

At least this time we might be able to go hiking. I actually went there about a week after we went for the last meet with my girlfriend, it was a blast. That park is beautiful and the trails are a blast, the best part is going off the trail. We found an awesome spot above one of caverns.

You can see the people standing in the bottom on the right side of the picture. This was kinda sketchy, I was just balancing on that tree overhanging the big opening. This is a spot where you're "not supposed to be"...

Just calculated my gas mileage again last night (I do every fill up), I hit another high: 37 MPG... I need to hit 40, just once. My old 6 speed I got 39 once... The 37 MPG was with me, my girlfriend, luggage, and a big ass tackle box... Plus I have my two 12" subwoofers in the trunk.

Not at all. The Celica is still my first love and far from finished. It still needs work and there's no way I would ever leave it two toned. Plus the BEAMS is too much fun to forget

I actually saw one when I bought the Z. Honestly, I just don't care for those cars. They do nothing to excite me. It's nothing against the car or anyone who likes them, but I'm personally not a fan. I'm glad Toyota is making an effort, however.
