Ok, I just put a turbo on my 5sfe. I used the 3sgte manifold, stock ct26 tubo that I had a full rebuild, and a Mr2 map sensor, HKS safr, twin power ignition, vortech boost rising fuel pressure regulator, 96 supra non-turbo injectors, colder spark plugs, a set of performance spark plugs wires, and I used the Hks oil filter relocater kit. I had Pann Auto install all of this for me. Today they told me that when they put it on the dyno, the car was blowing blue smoke. They do not have much experience with turboing the 5sfe, so they asked me to check around and see if there are any usual difficulties on first start up. I went ahead and told them to do a wet and dry compression test, as well as look into the turbo. I wont get any feedback from them until Friday because of New Years. Does any one have any information that would help me out? Please just post, I will check often.

your burning oil, plain and simple.

how many miles are on your car?

did you do a compression test before you turboed it?

I really hope so, I do not want to have to rebuild the engine?

I figured it was oil. I have a 100k. I was not burning oil before so I thought everthing was in order.

adding a turbo changes things, it would have really helped to have had a compression test done prior to everything

the car my not have burned oil before, but the heat alone from the turbo causes slight internal changes, allowing for the burning of oil.

it may even be an oil leak inside the turbo, despite the rebuild(high oil pressure perhaps)

Check the intake manifold for oil in it. It maybe a leaking seal iaround the turbo shaft.

MAy be too much oil in the engine.

MAke sure that the engine breather is not connected to the intake manifold.

Compresion test for leaking rings and vavles.

Follow in the order about, althoughthe engine breather here could be first.

5sfe's have a history of having bad valve seals....Most of us will nottic this during first startup with a small cloud blue smoke. This will eventualy get worse. I would have the head cleaned and the valve seals replaced. While the head is off you should get a set of ARP head studs and a 98+ camery headgasket. If you still have some green left over I'd recomend haveing a mild polish done to get rid of any casting defects.

Well, the turbo blew a seal, allowing alot of oil to spill into the compressor housing. I just had that damn thing rebuilt. Good thing I got a warranty.
