***UPDATE***
Check PAGE 2 for Completed Pics!

Finally started work on putting together some projector headlights.

I started out with buying used/not installed Rayme Lenses.
And a spare set of low headlights to do work on.

Months later, last week I purchased Morimoto Mini H1's from TheRetrofitSource.

I was playing around with ideas for shrouds, and tried my hand at vacuum forming.. not bad I guess.

But I'm going to try something else.

Today I got antsy and had to try em out.. took awhile to remove the bumper kind of a PITA
*Note: Shrouds and Clear Lenses not installed yet*

Upclose biggrin.gif

Against the garage the light pattern difference is obvious.

Both.. NOT adjusted yet!

So they're not the ones Malhar95 made?
The ones in your pic look pretty clear.

The projectors aren't from anything. They're special made for retrofitting. So the thread on the back side of the projector sits snuggly inside the original bulb hole and is tighten buy a nut that is seated perfectly in the back smile.gif

Got the highs done and finished the shrouds today!

And a little something special!!! wink.gif

Ahhhh I'm so excited biggrin.gif

A little setback tho the LED strip for the other headlight isn't working properly mad.gif
Gotta contact TRS to see what they can do about getting me a working one.

Once I get that sorted out I can seal the lights, and button her back up!

Question to all you wiring guru's..
Whats the best way to go about wiring the led strips to act in place of my turn signals (ie: running corner lights/ blinkers)??
Strips use 9-12v, has 1 positive wire and 1 negative wire.
Stock turns use 3 wires..

Any help? Thanks.

$120 for Projectors
$25 for LED's
$15 for H1 HID's
$40 for thermoform plastic
$50 for clear lenses
------
$250 for the whole project.
Bare minimum only would have cost ~150 but I wanted a nice shroud and leds..

I don't think Rayme logs in anymore. Jrunik just happened to be selling a set he bought from rayme.
So, I guess used or malhar95 are the options now. kindasad.gif

I think you could make these easy, seeing the awesomeness that comes outta your shop!

I've got a pair of clear lenses for sale from Malhar95

Great Job smkr3w! I was going to do the exact same thing with my retrofit (the LED turns and black housing... happy to see how amazing it looks!) but i don't exactly have the time nor funding for it frown.gif

If anyone is interested I also have 2 jdm low beams for sale. I already dismantled the lens off one but never had the time to do the other.

let me know if anyone is interested.

Im sure I can but it's all about production cost. I want to make a one off for my self and not prepared to fork out for HQ mass production.

Anyone know how I can contact Rayme? The ones he made look quite good.

I have them thumbsup.gif but they don't cover the entire inside of the headlights... so pretty much I'm making a shroud to go behind the shroud...

I think it would look too bare with just the prijector and halo, because the actual housing would be so much bigger than the projector.

My thought exactly plus the leds contrast a little to the roundness. We have two round circle-ish low beams and two round highbeams, why throw in another circle light inside of it? just my opinion tho.

moar pics soon smile.gif

I think these were the easiest to install and they came out really well, but you could've used a MUCH larger projector (like FX-R I think they're called?) to make use of the whole housing and get better light while at it... a bi-xenon would've been awesome and do some kind of high-beam delete for a different look.

the price difference wasn't worth the size difference for me, but the fx-r's are nice. My mini's have a solenoid to bi xenon option, but decided go a diff route.

Wow looks good.
Do the LED strips act as your turn signals? or only as you arm/disarm the alarm?
And do your stock turn signals still work as well, if the LEDs do act as your turns?

Wow looks good.
Do the LED strips act as your turn signals? or only as you arm/disarm the alarm?
And do your stock turn signals still work as well, if the LEDs do act as your turns?

The way they're wired I have as only the running lights.
Currently waiting on a couple LED bulbs to come in the mail, these will be my blinkers which will actually be housed in the high beams!
The stock turn housings will be non-functional.

Will do, actually I should say that the high beams will still be functional, the led bulbs is off to the side in the housing which should illuminate the housing/reflector when it blinks.

Actually I plan on plasti-dipping the entire car and the turns will be painted over and left that way.. so still be kind of shaved but not in the sense of bodywork.

I wanna see a in-cabin picture of these biggrin.gif

As requested..

On the highway, driving home from work. Nice, even light out output.

In the neighborhood, here you can better see the cutoff effect.

And in the driveway. Showing the output/cutoff from the driver's seat.

Still gotta fine tune the aiming a little.

Again these are Morimoto Mini H1 Projector's with 6000K HID's smile.gif

Why didnt you choose 55w?

Because when I had the stock headlights in I ran a 35W 9006 Bulbs HID kit. And just bought new H1 HID Bulbs to replace the 9006 ones. So all that to say it was cheaper smile.gif
