hello.

Sadly i dont own a celica, but im currently looking for a 98-99 in good shape. I drive a 2000 eclipse gt .I hope to find a celica soon because it is my all time favorite car, like 10 years ago my brother used to have a white 94 celica gt(back then i was only 13 years old). And i loved that car,it was very comfortable and that dashboard was awesome,my favorite part of the car was the dashboard lol.
The problem is that i cant find a celica in good shape, most of the 6th gen around here are completly beaten up,im looking for a complete stock one, even with the oem wheels because i want to keep that car my entire life and i want it clean. and it MUST be a GT and manual hehehe.
i just want to ask some questions:
how expensive is the manteinance on a gt?...how reliable is this car for being 13+ years old?

I'm asking this because, the manteinance on my eclipse is very expensive,to change the spark plugs is a pain in the ass because the intake plenum must be removed in order to get the damn rear plugs... $250 in labor, and timing belt job is about $600.

Thanks.

Welcome! And not sure on the maintenance seeing how mine is Turbo. I am not sure about a stock GT. I wouldn't say it would be expensive by any means. As long as you do it yourself lol.

Welcome. My celica GT is still super reliable at 221,000 miles, and very easy to work on. Spark plug change on a Celica GT is about $20, haha.

The 6th gen Celica GT is a beautifully simple car to work on, inside and out. The 5S-FE engine was a very common engine so parts are everywhere and very cheap. Plus, like you said, the interior is awesome thumbsup.gif I've driven a couple of Eclipses and they just don't have the character that the Celica has. They're nice cars, but they just lack the feel of the Celica. Hopefully you find a clean Celica soon! I don't know where "TJ" is but there's a very clean '99 Celica near me.

Welcome and good luck on your search! Eclipses are nice cars but the body seems a bit pudgy, unlike the sleek lines of a 6gc. And of course the dashboard looks gooood!
