sup 6GC. I got my first car, my celica, sometime last march. my dad has been a mechanic for 30 years & the original owner brought it to his shop one day wanting to scrap it, my dad took the keys & the title & brought her home. the original owner only drove it on the weekends so she only has 80k miles on her. i didnt even have my permit yet. she sat in my garage for around 7 months while i got a job & got my permit & license.

back in december my first mod was an intake.

even before i could drive her i got attached.

recently i was hit by a 16 year old girl on my way home with my little sister.

my dad & I always wanted to do a gt-four front conversion but never had the extra money. i posted a thread about the accident & people suggested we do it now. shout out to Tigawoods & Box for helping me out. the insurance adjuster's estimate was $2700, but then a month later they decided they were only gonna pay 70%, or $1900. we bought a whole gt-four front nose.

when the package got to the shop we unloaded it & didnt see this until we got it in the shop because it was facing the inside wall of the truck. you can see there is a good size hole in the package from the shipping company. there was a few dents in the hood right where the hole was. mad.gif

my dad & I are doing the project ourselves. body work, paint, the whole nine. biggrin.gif here's where the serious progress starts.

there's minor frame damage where she was hit. the insurance adjuster is coming out again to see it because it wasnt on the estimate.

we banged out the dents on the hood today & started sanding it down for primer. we also are gonna replace the driver's side rear quarter panel because it's rusted out, & shoot the whole car red again. to those who are interested, i will keep you guys updated!

Im very glad you went for the gt-four front!
I'll have to come check it out some time when it's rolling again.

Any plans for it next?

Just a thought, I am not sure if you had any plans on getting a lip kit for it in the future but since you are getting it painted might be good to get it done all in one shot. You do have the shop and etc more readily available to you so it probably isnt a problem to just wait and do it later down the road

i'm gonna keep it stock gt-four for now. it needs exhaust very badly. when we first got the car it had a little leak & now the whole flex pipe is broken. i hate to admit it but she sounds horrible right now haha. after all the body work & paint we're gonna get custom 2.5" exhaust. & it's due for a fresh timing belt too.

I'd suggest 2.25" unless you're doing engine tuning. You're going to loose too much torque down low and it's not going to make you happy kindasad.gif

we're actually planning on boosting it in the future. probably a year or two though. should i run 2.5" or 3" for a turbo? & is it worth going 2.25" right now & then doing it all over again when we boost it?

Are we talking about 3S swap or 5SFTE?

You could get away with 2.5" on a no-mod 3S and probably a 5SFTE too

yeah i figured. that's why i wanted to go 2.5" now, instead of going 2.25" & having to change all the piping again when we get to boosting it. & 5SFTE. smile.gif

So cool to read this Celi is getting the love she deserves. I'd recommend getting a C-One (replica) lip for that front bumper though. It's so sexy. biggrin.gif You can get a 100% fitment guaranteed one at http://www.rt-performance.com/ebay-shop.

man o man you are in store for some meets. There are so many meets in your area.

The biggest of them being the TST Spring meet which this year they held at the Warminster Community Park (where SCCA also holds auto-x events that are top notch btw)

of course, i wouldnt let you come without it! tongue.gif it's coming together alright. we're gonna have to leave the front end primered for now until i can afford to replace the rear quarter & the paint job. but i think it'll still look good even with the car 2 different colors, for now anyways.

2600 lbs. remove all the unnecessary bs like spare, rear seats and even the compressor and passenger seats and your left with 2300. i do like your shop lifts. small and compact, unlike post lifts, always getting in the way

I love the sound they produce, very deep for a V6.

Well, it is a 3.8L V6. It's like a 305 that's missing two cylinders. tongue.gif

half of the celica emblem came off when i was washing it, so i debadged it. smile.gif should be getting a new timing belt, valve cover gasket, spark plugs & wires, & water pump next week. so finally i can start saving for exhaust & then the paint job. biggrin.gif we had originally planned to paint it ourselves but there's a paint shop next door to our shop & i might be able to get it cheap. slow progress is still progress!

Any more pics of the engine? Any chance you got the stock intake with it? You'll definitely want to pull your spark plugs out and check for oil; all three BEAMS I bought leaked oil through the spark plug tube seals and needed a new valve cover gasket. Be sure to look where the axles slip into the trans and check for LSD. If you see this:

You have LSD. Good luck!

i'd say maybe a month or two. i located a b-pipe. still need oem intake, maf, timing belt, water pump, thermostat...etc. we're gonna check out the flywheel & pressure plate on the trans that's on the beams now. it's non-lsd there is a bar in there. that's the first thing i checked i wish it was lsd.

here's another pic of the engine as it sits.(phone quality, will make sure to take my camera from now on!) it needs a power wash. tongue.gif & we are going to re-paint the valve cover & intake manifold. so far from what we've seen the internals are very clean.

You can pick up the stock intake lid from Vincent_Doggy- Linky. Lithia Toyota stocks most of the timing belt and related accessories, and the thermostat part number is 90916-03100, came in the Land Cruiser, Sequoia, and some Tundras with the 4.0 and 4.6 liter V8's, early to mid 2000's models so its readily available in any parts store or Toyota dealership. Also, just for my sake, could you post a picture of the back of the intake runners? Either between cylinders 1 and or or between 3 and 4, there may be a small nipple for a vacuum line sticking down and capped off. If its there, you have a late-spec BEAMS. If not, it's an early spec. There's no difference between them, it's just cool knowing which you have.

You're also going to need a new screen name now. wink.gif

all 5sfe, 7afe and 3sge fuel pumps are the same. you may want to get a aftermarket bosch or oem replacement filter. to ensure full vtec power! i wouldn't get walbro i did and i disliked the buzzing noise whenever i had the radio off. plus you could hear it from outside of the car

as far as b-pipe again:

if you look here at this link the only difference is the b-pipe itself which is due to oxygen sensor location but every other part number is the same. the b-pipe is the only thing that distinguishes the years its meant for

http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_1999_TOYO...BLMZF_1702.html

SO BUY THE 3rd gen 3sge bpipe already for crying out loud!!!

not yet tiga, we got the 5s out. just put in new timing belt, water pump, & thermostat in the beams. we need to rip apart both trans still & take the 3s flywheel & pressure plate & put them in my trans from the 5s cause we are using my original trans. i'm not sure if she will be street ready for the pagoda meet. i'm sad to say, when i saw the post i wanted to be able to go. frown.gif but i am waiting on the oem intake top from doggy. i've got a beams cluster i'm about to buy & i'm looking for a downpipe/b-pipe in the US. the downpipe will be the final part though. then after it's all said & done i am taking her out to Mufflex in trenton for exhaust. some possible paint/bodywork ahead too. tongue.gif
i'm going to try to post some progress pics tomorrow.
