So after I took my brother to pick up his car from the shop... we started heading home and this Accord slowed down next to me (he was in the carpool lane). My brother was following me home the whole way home... and then he sped up. I thought nothing of it... Then he got stuck behind a truck... and we continued cruisin down the freeway at 70 MPH.
About 3 minutes later... when there was an opening to exit the car pool lane... he sped up and pulled up next to my brother... slowed down ... then sped up to race... I saw my brother starting to take off and I had to think for a second if I should join in on the fun. So I decided 5 seconds later... fuggit... why not... it's been a while and it would be fun to surprise the Accord owner with my supposedly-slow ST. So by this time... he was 4 cars lengths ahead... and my brother was 1 ahead of him... I downshifted... and passed him up easily... I could just see him in my rear-view mirrors STRUGGLIN to catch up... BUT he couldn't... So my brother and I slowed down and just let him pass us... cuz getting a ticket isn't worth it... Anyway... that's my story for the day... and my roommate and I were crackin up the whole time home. DAMN BOOST IS TOOOOOO ADDICTING.

I once raced a riced out 90 accord, in my 85 lincoln Mark VII LSC, he down shifted on the highway....i floored it and saw him in the rear view. Not bad for a huge a$$ tank of a car. |

That was only a joke. At my school, every car maker is represented by a dip****. There's was (idiot totalled it) an unmodded Civic DX who thought his car was faster than mine. There is a Toyota Supra with the worst looking paint job I've ever seen. Some guy with a Lexus IS300 has no clue what the hell is on his car, his dad just puts it on. The kid with the IS300 was making fun of the kid with the Supra for not getting the Turbo version even though he has to pay for it all. The kid with the IS300 had his daddy pay for it all. He was also saying that the Supra was slow and only had 150hp... BTW: The Supra is a 94, $14,000. The kid is paying $500 a month for car payments and insurance. that kid with the is300 is a moron, and an NA mkiv supra is faster than the is300 i too try to "know the competition" doesnt hurt to have a little knowledge about the other cars on the market. btw i test drove an IS300 for my sister today(yup, thats right, her first car is gonna be an is300/325i for her 16th b day) its a nice car, one of the few 4dr cars i would like to drive, way better than my 4dr beater car(93 protege dx) which i have to sell once my sister gets her car, we dont have room for any more cars(we now have 6 cars) the rwd bug has bitten me -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Yup! I can't wait for my brother to get his new clutch... and for me to get my EBC back and new wheels (I have no tread right now). I wanna see where my car stacks up against my brother's car. Regardless of me being lighter and having slightly more HP... He's RWD will out-torque me. That night, when we were pulling into the freeway... I floored it on the ramp... and my brother was still able to keep up with me with his slippin clutch. Mind you I have no tread on my tires and still running stock boost. Anyway... I'll report back later on this when my brother and I are ready to run...

how i view it, MR is the best of both worlds, it pulls off the line almost as well as AWD, but it still has the top end = to 2WD. the only problem is braking in turns is a big nono, i need to practice keeping my foot off that break pedal haha

pendulum motion, theres so much weight in the back of those cars, it just spins around automatically. they handle much like a F-1 car w/o the autobraking safety devices. the car grips all the way to the limit, then when it hits the limit, the weight carries the back end out, virtually unsavable if you push it past the limit. where as FF cars will understeer when they break the limit, so you blip the brake back onto the gas, and its an easy save. if you break the limit in a FR car, you can just stomp the gas, countersteer, feather out the gas and safe recovery drift. MR is possably the hardest setup to save if you start loosing control. your only hope is to floor the gas and hope the rear hasnt kicked out too far yet.

hehe thats arcade racing, they are very loosely physics based, it does differentiate, but it doesnt give a correct depiction. play GT3 and take off all the brake assist stuff and put it on simulation driving mode, then try to drift in a skyline, a RX-7, and a MR2, better yet use the ruff GT2, that will give you a better depiction of what im talking about.

Hmmmm, being that i have no experience in drifting, i dont have any comparison to go by to figure if the physics were correct. I just assumed they were. So much for assumptions. Gran Turismo 3? Might give it a try so i wont be in the dark.

I've seen some ricers that could actually go better than a 3SGTE... faster than a Mustang GT even. del Sol Si dunno wut he had under the hood took on me (Celica ST), my friend (Cougar GT V6), and my brother-in-law (Mustang GT 4.6) and killed me and the Cougar and kept up pretty well with the Mustang. Not EVERY Honda out there is complete rice, just most of them

Well a few nights ago i took on a Mustang Cobra SVT like a '96-99 or so. We were cruising at about 65-70 when i spotted the red and yellow flames on his white stang and i paised him for a while, dont think he gf wanted him to race (she was cute btw). But after about a mile or so i heard him rev is engine and we just took off i just got ahead of him b4 my rev gov. kicked in (  stupid 125mph limiter). I should of killed him but my baby wouldnt let me. He kept going after that but i knew that i couldnt. He probably thought he won but you guys be the judge of it.....  So yeah can anyone tell me the stock boost for the 185 and the 205?? David |

im not exactly sure, but i know my car stock boost is between 8 and 11 PSI, i think the 185 is the same.

st205 is around 14psi i think
the more i look at them, the more i want an mr2 turbo. i want to get a project car. i dont like the feel of FWD anymore, i was getting on an on-ramp one time and it was the kinda that slowly loops around. towards the end i punched the gas to pass my friend in his saturn and it torque steered and one of the tires started smoking. i need something 5spd, factory turbo, and non fwd. as of now its between a GSX or an mr2 t(currently i am toyota biased) This post has been edited by 97sccelica: Jan 10, 2004 - 2:13 AM -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

5'11 i think, lol i have been in an mr2, nice fit, like the shifter placement, but the pedals are gonna be a problem, i have wide feet, if i dont pay attention i could hit the clutch and brake at the same time, lol as for a gsx, i'll see if my buddy will let me drive his. my cousin tells me not to bother with one though. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Im 6'2-6'3 and I fit fine, tilt steering baby!! ANd ya the pedals in the mr2 are different then any car I have driven, I have to keep my feet side ways basically so Im not mashing the pedals at the same time, totally used to it now but it was wierd the first couple times out. |

the eclipse interior gives me a real 'celicaesque' feel for me, i drove my friends 97 eclipse GS and it was the EXACT same feel i had in the celica, just with a softer clutch.

that and the AWD turbo is why i really like the eclipse gsx but then i think of all the stuff my cousin had to change on the car off the top of my head 2 trannys 3 clutches in 2 years (he did drive hard) driver's side head light twice little plastic crap here and there he also didnt like the small gas tank and the 15mpg he used to get. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

GSX's in stock trim, and even slightly modded aren't that fast. For reliability purposes alone, I would rather not bother with them... but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. I'd personally go for an old school Mitsubishi Starion turbo. FR set-up with a monstrous 2.6 liter Turbo 4 banger. Back in the day, this that was faster than 7mgte Supras and Z's... Short of that, the MR-2 is a far better car than the Eclipse GSX, in handling, performance, potential, on and on... i would love an alltrac problem is that they are very hard to find. i have only seen one st185 in person and one st165 in person. when i was originally shopping for a car, there was a 92 for sale for only $2500 i'll keep that option open for if i ever spot one -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

If you didn't live so far away... there are 2 st165's on sale in the Bay Area right now. Go Here and look around for them. They were listed there a while ago. I personally am searching for an AE86 hatchback. I'm looking to get back on the track, and would love to have a Hachi to do it with. Funny thing is, the first car I ever drove was a 85 Corolla GTS hatchback in the snow. I've never recovered from the RWD bug, since my FC died, although amateur autoX'ing with my old AT200 did help a bit... Nothing beats going sideways. ;] Anyways... USDM St185's and 165's aren't that impressive in stock trim... although in stock trim, the 3sgte basically has its balls sealed in a jar... so theres a lot of power to unleash with a simple boost controller... ;] -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl...
