Ok here goes. I recently had to do a complete rebuild of my 1998 toyota celica. From ground up i had my mechanic do the rebuild. Once i got the car back everything was running fine for awhile, but the mechanic told me that the ECU/ECM isn't reading and that i would need to get a new one. So i went and got a new ECU, and i still notice that my check engine light is still on, and the car is running a little funny. So Once i put the new ecu in i have it checked out and the individual at autozone tells me that there is a short somewhere in the electrical and that the ecu isn't reading.

Ok so i checked all my fuses and everything sees fine, but i still dont know exactly where to start looking for my problem. If any of you can help me lead me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamods/mai...ode/cip1600.pdf

Seems to be some good information there, if you haven't read that already. It's not for a 5S specifically, but it's still good info.

ok update. found that the main power wire to the ecu was dead. rerouted another power source and the check engine light went off. now pulled the two fuses that run the ecm and efi and waiting for 15 min and putting them back in and seeing how that works. thanks for everyone's help! Hoepfully i have everything solved.
