MazdaSpeed Protege, but this wasn't straight line...we did it at the old road course in northern MN that's abandoned. I killed him, but it was mostly thanks to my car having really good handling. Plus, he considers me a better driver than him, so had I been racing that same car against a skilled driver...it might have been different.

Straight line, uhm prolly a Golf 1.8T. The only turbocharged car I've ever beaten.

Tonight I beat a supercharged mustang. Until 42 mph. Then it won.
Then I beat a newer end mazda (didn't catch the model) until 47 mph. Then it won.
Further on through the night, I beat a 300zx, because it's driver didn't know what he was doing and kept it in first gear or some such crazy shiznaz, I had no business winning that and will not count it.
Then I beat a BMW, until 44 mph. Then it won.

The pattern continues.

Stupid 2nd gear. The end.

Dude, minivans are no joke. They have power haha.

Your ST model has 110 hp and 115 lb ft of torque.
A GT puts out 135 hp and 145 lb ft

Those are actually both decent numbers, as say, a Civic Si puts out 160 hp- but a pathetic 111 lb ft of torque (correct numbers? going off 99 year).

Simply put, our cars have excellent acceleration- but still not enough hp. Hence, why I beat the mustang UNTIL it pulled ahead at 42 mph. Until 42 mph, I was doing a lot better.

I second that notion,

Also that "crappy" tourque means nothing in a "real" race once that car hits 5k RPM's it will put your GT in a coma. V-Tec is not to be frowned upon.

Its weird- a Supercharged stang will crank it off the line but somehow you hung till 2nd gear rolleyes.gif *shrugs* I guess Automatic Celica with intake and exhaust can hang with those cars. Mine sure as hell cant, I have a (lighter) 97 HB intake/Exhaust/Pulley/Wires/Plugs/SAFCII

Are you sure the Mustang was supercharged? I came really close to beating my friend's automatic fairly-new V6 'Stang, but in third gear he pulled away from me.

If it was supercharged, chances are he probably had a really bad launch and didn't know how to drive his car well. wink.gif

Edit: By the way, the best car I've beat was probably my friend's lightly-modded Eclipse GS. Also, it was kind of cool that I beat a car that I saw on display at Hot Import Nights. biggrin.gif

It's not BS, and it was certainly a surprise to me. To be honest, I wanted nothing to do with the race and (excuse me) was scared ****less by the sound of his blowoff valve, and the glow from his gauges. But he revved at me, so I said ok.

I don't know how I managed until 2nd gear, I don't know why. I could hear his engine (so I could hear he was trying), I could look over and see his headlights slightly behind mine(it wasn't like I was 3 carlengths ahead).

I was pretty sure it was super'd, because I could hear the blowoff valve as he pulled up to the light, and most mustangs I hear are super'd, not turbo'd. It's certainly a possibility that he was turbo'd, and was experiencing turbo lag.

Futhermore, one last thing. It wasn't like it was a GT mustang or anything. Regular, consumer mustangs that every mom and pop thinks they're the **** driving, don't have THAT much on us.

You'll also notice I didn't beat it, I lost the race, but I held my own off the line.

Or then, maybe Coom's right, and he just had a crappy lunch. I'm not trying to start an argument here, nor am I trying to jam bull**** down your throats.

I have beaten quite a few type Rs with my GT4 and a few Imprezas. Haven't yet came across any Evos wanting to race.

By the way, I have beaten quite a few SS III and SS II 6GC that made the mistake to try to get by my GT4. All for fun though.

Furthermore, the best race i have ever had was with a Merc CLK230. I raced this a few years back with my JDM ST206 when he passed me in the highway and we were racing for more than 10 minutes at speeds more than 200 km/h.

The more enjoyable though was with a brand new BMW X5 4.4 ltr. I let him get to my side and then we both accelerated but he could not pass me.

Beaten -

BWM //M3
Tricked out Prelude
Various V8 mustangs

With my Turbo Celica the only car I ever lost to was a SVT lightening ala 390 HP

and that I believe was only because I had a really really ****ty launch.

1994 300ZX
(4) 2001 Mustang GT's >2 had blowers
(18) 1999 Civic Si's

Win
Honda Civic Si - exhaust, intake
Honda Civic "VTEC" DX - exhaust, intake, oversized aluminum spoiler
Honda Civic EX - stock
Mitsubishi Mirage - intake, oversized "carbon fiber" spoiler

Lost
'86 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 - stock
'88 Toyota MR2 - stock
'96 Toyota Supra TT - gotta love those people that pick on the weak ones
'01 Toyota Corolla - intake, exhaust, turbo
'00 Cougar GT V6

No one ever had to waste any nawz on me yet. Sadly my slow car doesn't accelerate due to the fact that it is automatic and I am fat.

I've got an exhaust, CAI, and everything else is stock. Oh yeah and my custom made 100hp adding NAWZ sticker.

umm, i never race anything off the line, i have a slow automatic, and i know it. just running down the roads though i beat a mid 90's civic with cheap "VTEC" and "Si" emblems on the back (i highly doubt it was a VTEC or a Si), i passed him doing 100mph, and he couldnt pass me back. and then a white 300zx, again mid 90s... i was following him down the highway at about 110mph, then i had to pull of an exit merging into another highway, and he cut infront of me, so we were both going along a single lane, merging into 3 lanes, so the second it does i blow by on the right and get in front of him, and he cant get passed me... we get off and theres a light turning yellow, he gets on my right and stops but i blow threw the red light to keep my dignity, because he could beat me off the line...

I'm pretty sure the Cobras from the mid 90's weren't supercharged, and their horsepower rating was nowhere near what it is in today's. It was in the low 200's then. That's why they were called SLOWbras.

In my ST206 Curren i got beaten by:

subaru impreza WRX
Honda integra Type R with lots of Mods
BMW X5

but the most enjoyable one was when I got beaten by a JDM Toyota Glanza (starlet) 1.5 Turbo with plenty of other mods.

Man!!! that thing is like riding a bullet. I would not mind having one of those. Due to the size and weight i almost got beaten by one of those even with my 6gc JDM GT4.
