I have a set of 4 dorman wheel lug locks that I bought from AutoZone. I use one on each wheel. My wheel studs are all stock btw. The front two I never had a problem with. They come off and tighten just fine. But when it came to the rear ones. They don't really tighten. The furthest I can get it in is to where it's almost flush with the wheel. Once I get there the lug will just simple spin and won't tighten any further or loosen any more. It'll just keep spinning and spinning. This is on both sides btw. I took it in to America's Tire to get both removed. I asked them to check the threads and they said it looks good. Might just be the Lug Locks. So I decided to go to AutoZone and buy another set to replace the old ones. Once I put them on. The same exact thing happened again. Now I just took it in AGAIN and got the removed AGAIN. So I'm riding with one less lug nut on both my rear wheels.

My question is. Our rears and fronts studs are the same thread size and everything right? I mean the stock wheel lugs fits fine on all four wheel studs. So yea. Wtf? Right? Sounds impossible. It's a pain in the ass. I don't want to put another lug lock on until I know what the problem is. Don't want to spend 20 dollars on each lug to be force removed.

Specs:
1997 Toyota Celica GT
Stock Studs and Hub
Riding on 7gc GTS Rims

The product I used were dorman. It was the Mag Seat Style one.

Do some basic tests.

Try the rear lock nuts on different studes on the rear. Try the rear lock nuts on the front wheels. Try the front lock nuts on the rear wheels. Try standard nuts on the studs which won't fully tighten with the lock nuts. And finally, the stock lug nuts are, if I recall correctly, an acorn-style seat -- are you certain you're using the correct seat style for your wheels?

Sounds like the wheel lugs/bolts themselves are spinning. They are pressed in and its likely that they have lost their grip inside the spindle(? Correct name). Best way is to remove the bolts and replace with new one. Hopes that helps.

I haven't done that yet but what I've done is bought new locks(same ones) and tried it. Same thing happened. What else I've tried was using a spare lug nut that I had in my garage on the same stud that had the free spinning lug lock. It went in and came out like it's supposed to. So I think I'm just going to have to buy a new set of lug locks maybe. I don't really feel safe with out lug locks. Lol. I'm using Extended Mag Seat Style Lug Nuts on my current 7gc GTS rims. These rims uses Mag Seat Style.

Are you talking about they lost their grip where it connects to the hub? If it was like that then I don't think America Tire would be able to take it off without drilling the stud off?

The lug nuts aren't the same thread as the studs... I bought a set of wheel locks once and I had a wheel come off because I bought them the right size (said m12x1.5 in the package) but the nuts inside weren't m12x1.5, they were an american thread (1/2"). Bad experience on my mazda3.

If it was like that then how come I never had a problem with the two front ones?

Mixed and mis matched in the package maybe? 2 studs on your car are wrong?

I ordered another set of lug locks. Going to try these out and see if it works.
