I was surfing through eBay looking at TRD parts and I ran into these intake sound changer? Never heard of it but it makes me curious to what it is and how it sounds. Lol.

I clicked the link abd immediately assumed it was just like all the other fake TRD stuff on eBay. Apparently it's real and does exactly what it says- changes the sound of the intake. I'm guessing each color is a different sound.

WTH? That's weird. So it makes different intake sounds like what it says. I wander where it's installed though? To me it looks like a pcv valve. LOL!

The FRS has a "sound tube" that goes from the intake to the floorboard on the passenger side. It basically pipes the intake sound into the cabin so you can hear more of what the engine is doing. It is pretty cool.
These "sound changers" alter the diameter of pipe that comes into the cabin, thus making it louder or quieter. I like mine the way it is, though. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

All three (GT86,FRS,BRZ) have it.
It isn't retarded at all, but I suppose you'd have to have one to understand. It is completely removable for those who don't like it. Either via an aftermarket intake or a simple plug installed in place of the pipe. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

It is interesting for being an analog concept; the M5 also has (had?) a system where it plays engine sound through the speaker system, which is the same difference to me as a nice set of naturals or some Barbie add-ons.
