Hey guys,
to avoid a long technical explanation..i'll just say this. I'm running an aftermarket computer on my car with individual coils and I'm only using the distributor for a timing signal (via the pickup coil inside it). I need a picture of the approximate angle that the distributor is turned to. I'll play around with the exact timing later, I just need an approximate value so I can shift mine to there and start adjusting things in the computer.

So can someone respond with a picture of the distributor and a clear view of the adjuster bolts just so I can approximate mine. Thanks!

Heads-up: it'll never work right. Your car will want to turn on with intake valves open and shoot out farts through the throttle body. It's quite a funny sight if you leave your intake tube off. Also it'll sound like the starter is about to break some of the flywheel teeth off.

I tried getting it to work with a MS-II to no avail. Get a 98+ oil pump w/ crank sensor provisions and a 98+ crank timing gear, it'll be a lot less trouble.

It works fine, it took forever to get the dist adjusted right and the right timing numbers plugged into the computer, but it works. The car only runs for 5 seconds though and then the fuel cuts out.

If you're using it only as a cam signal and you already have a crank sensor somewhere then it'll work. Otherwise it'll turn your car on (every now and then you might have issues) and you'll be able to tune timing and everything.

EDIT: NVM: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=88875 it's a 3SGTE, not a 5SFE, right? The dists are different.

I don't know if it's a 3sgte dist or 5sfe dist. I have both, and a beck arnley.

The dist for the 3s should be multi-teeth trigger wheel, while the 5s dist on 94-99 celicas have 4 slanted teeth

oh, yeah it's multi-teeth. I didn't know that they were like that. I know mine is multi-toothed. Mine is 3sgte for sure then. I've got the rotor removed from the distributor in hopes of having my friends workplace machine me a blanking cap!

I'll try to get you a picture of the 5S dist. I also have a REV1 head distributor, which is awfully similar to the 3s one, but it has the coil external to the dist. (I believe 3S is the same)

The 3S one can be made to work. You might need to grind a tooth off if your ECU only reads from missing-tooth trigger wheels (36-1, 36-2, 60-2, 24-1, etc)

Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's a 3s dist though. I can select the number of teeth missing in the Autronic or set it at 0 missing teeth
