I'm looking at getting some new wheels and not sure which size I want to get. 16" are cheaper but I don't know if 17" would look better. Also which ones fit better?

Same brand and model, just 16 vs 17 ?
If you care more about looks compared to performance go with 17. What engine is your car? -------------------- |

Get 17 (or bigger), I've got 16 with low profile tires and they do look small for the Celica wheel wells.

17s with 40-45 series or 16s 45-55 series to look right on our cars.
These are my 17s with stretched 40 series tires. ![]() -------------------- |

I say 16's, the sidewall looks too thin on 17's. I'm not a fan of the thin sidewall look.

The only that sucks is that the higher the series the less flush you can go. Meaning the more tucked in you'll have to be. If you want a flush look go with 17s and stretched 40-45 series.
Here's 16s with 50 series. ![]() -------------------- |

See, that looks much better. It's flush enough, having it completely flush reminds me of a toy car.

The rear would've need about 15mm to make it more bareable and not sooo sunked in. Then again. The 7gc gts wheels are by far the best looking wheels for our cars. Just the ugly offsets kills it. Lol. -------------------- |

I kind of prefer the tucked in look. Then again with my car being lowered 1.5" with 14" wheels it's Hella Tucked.

Even with the added torque of the 5S I'd do 16. It just feels better to me, and the car was designed in the era of 14 and 15" for this class of car, with 16 being an option...

Oooooh a wheel whoring opportunity
![]() I've had 16's, 17's and 18's on my 6 and I'd say 18's all day long. They just look right on a lowered 6. Piccies ![]() 16's with 205-45-16's ![]() 17's with 205-40-17's ![]() 18's with 215-35-18's (All I could use as 225-40-18's scrubbed heavily on the arches ![]() ![]() I've also had 215-40-17's which are better and as I said the 225-40-18's although these are not much good if you're quite low |

18's are just way too big, it reminds me of the "brothas" over here driving 80's Caprices on 26's.

Heres my spill about wheel sizes for compact cars. 16s for performance, 18s for looks, and 17s for a lil bit of both.

I still stick to my theory of 18's for the 6, The arches are just too big

I like the 17s but they're a bit more expensive and don't have as good as tire selection.

To a degree I have to admit that although on my White one that I had it was a better ride on the 18's than the 16s although if you've got the right tyre profile etc then yeah 16's would suit fine |

Lol. But hey. Our Celica does have it's luxurious side so 18s do fit perfect with our cars also. It's just all self preference. I understand where you're coming from. the 18s covers the wheel well just perfect but then again you can do the same with smaller wheels with bigger sidewalls. Running 16's with 195/45/16 Toyo Proxies for mine. Mild stretch on a 8" wheel and fits nicely.
