Has there ever been a time where you were ready to pack it all up and get something faster, better looking whatever it may have been that caught your eye? I almost did once with a blue Subru 2.5 rs. The only thing that stopped me was my wallet, the car was 17g's and I still owed about 6 on mine. To this day when someone says nice car I thell the its theirs for 15 thousand. The day someone says yes is the day I sell my car. My bro's GF offered 10.5 but thats as close as I have gotten.

LOL, yea the only time is when I think about how they lak in performance, but on the other had the styling is soo sooo......great. ITs not another HONDA and its different than anythign anyone else has around here. So basically im saying somethign drastic would have to happen before I would consider selling. Although I wouldnt mind dropping a different engine in but, prob not since im soooo................LOW lol. rolleyes.gif

There was a time when I was considering selling my car and getting something else. I really, really wanted a hatchback and something fast, so I started looking at Integras and I almost bought a black '94 GSR with 30,000 miles for $10,500. I was gonna buy it, but my parents decided that I didn't need an even bigger car payment or a faster car, so they didn't let me.

Now that I look back I'm glad that I didn't get that car, because it seems like everyone has an Integra these days. It's rare to see another sixth generation Celica here in town, but there are Integras everywhere.

Every once in a while I would like to have more power but then I also want to be orriginal. Thats what I love about this generation they are rare. When we were crussin gatlinburg durning the 2002 Pigeon Forge Celica.net Meet I only saw maybe 1 other 6th gen. But I love my car.

i regret getting my damn st.mad.gif i thought it was a gt when i bought it, cuz it said so on autotrader. i found out it was an st after coming to this site (hmm a gt badge on the gt...imagine that). i guess its not a bad thing since my insurance is cheaper with the st. other than it not being a gt, i pretty much love my car.

All of your are very lucky to own a celica.

I am hoping to purchase Miss Cell next year.

They are very rare vehicles. Always remember, swaps are alway possible to those of you who really want a GT bad.

Once you can get parts for the celi, keep and enjoy it.

I think that the GT overseas has the 3S-GE engine in it with either 180 or 200 horsepower. Am I right west_minist?

I'm going to keep my car it the wheels fall off.

Sometime i think bout it just because of the lack of performance mods available but i mean the funnest part is fabricating and being original. I enjoy that alot.

hmmm...interesting...the name of my car is Miss Celi...so umm, yeah...wanna buy it?

But seriously, thats her name, missy for short.

My car has served its purpose...I wanted a chick magnet...the celica is that, specially being the bright iris pearl color. I met my current G/F because of the celica, she is a big fan, so you know. I found the celica when I went to look at a 5.0 vert...lol. O well.

I bought my '99 GT in October of 2001. I figured it'd be the perfect car to mod. Boy, was I wrong. I cannot believe the lack of aftermarket support for this car! It's unbelievable! Anyways, I was sorry at one time that I bought it, but now that there some companies starting to make aftermarket items for the 6th Gen, I'm happy for now. The car just kinda grows on you after awhile. Plus like others have said, it's not every day you see a 6th Gen Celica driving around. But, I'll keep mine until it gets replaced with a 93-98 Supra SE or TT. I have a brother who works at a Mercedes dealership in Clearwater, FL. He's going to keep an eye out for me and when one comes in, I'm heading to Florida to make a trade! wink.gif

The only time i ever regreted having my celi was around the first 3 months of owning it. The guy i got it from didn't take very good care of it and in that 3 month period of me having it everything that had that cheap ass sealer on it just gave out .. I had to replace the radiator, hoses, water pump, warped head repair, then the whole engine itself....But at least it runs great now wink.gif

You know.. while I'll never regret owning my celica.. I do regret not doing enough research in to potential of the motor, and the aftermarket support for it. It didn't even occur to me, that I could do so little to it. I kinda feel bad that there's such a small Niche on the net for it compared to other japanese imports. Oh well, I love the look of it, I wouldn't trade the look of it for anything. That's the only reason i'm keeping it around. Besides, down the road, I can do so much more to it, It just takes a lot more cash.

I suppose if anything this car will teach me the mechanics of an automobile, what makes it run, and what makes it run faster. It's more of a learning experience than anything for me.. I love reading up on the celica.net forums with all you guys, it's techno babble that means so much to me (If only I could understand half of it.)

Oh, and I like it when cute chicks ask me "is that a supra?" lol. smile.gif

i never regret buying the celica why cause it wasnt meant for drag racing .. take your celica to a curvy road and youll see how good it feels and how you can keep up with the faster cars....

and as far as parts go i am currently talking to a few performance shops on parts to be custom made for the 6 gen 7afe and 5sfe , ill keep you guys updated on what parts i get... also if there are rare parts out there that you might want let me know im pretty sure the shop i talk to can get them for you

I think that it's the SS-II and SS-III in Japan and a few other overseas countries, and the GT in some other overseas countries. I'm not really sure on that though. wink.gif

Nope i never regretted getting the celica
it's actually still my moms... hehe
=> we had a 4th gen, i had an accident with it (wasn't my fault) but car totally trashed so we got a new one and i got to pick it cuz normally i get it when i graduate smile.gif
i'm still studying so during the week i'm away from home,
my mom is a teacher so she only needs the car for her work during the week
in the weekend i get home and mom only had to do a quick visit to the local supermarket and i can use the car the rest of the weekend smile.gif

so i don't regret my mother getting a celica smile.gif
hehe

the only thing i'd rather drive is a supra smile.gif
must be great to have so much power in your car!
and the supra still has THE looks

the only "bad" thing about the 6th gen celica is ist "poor" performance
sure you can beat the average family car... but damn it its supposed to be a sports car!

ah well it feels great to drive and it looks verry verry good smile.gif

damn, talk about a really old thread from the dead. anywho... i love my car too much to ever sell it. i'll keep fixing stuff when they brake and replace the engine (with an even better one) when it dies. the only other car i wish i had is a st205. sexiness with the performance to match. plus extremely rare in the u.s.

Sometimes i look back, and i think to myself about all the other cars i could have gotten for the price i paid for the Celica. I could have gotten something faster, maybe RWD, with a better aftermarket. But then i look at my life, and i realize that things wouldn't be the way they would be if i hadn't of gotten my 6GC way back when. I wouldn't have met a lot of great people, and i wouldn't know that much about customizing or fabrication. Most of, if not all my friends that i have now, i met becuase of my Celica in some way or another. I looove the way my life is and who i've become becuase of my Celica. Owning such a slow car kept me from becoming big headed or cocky haha. I think the 6GC has made me a better person over the past few years. And im glad i got one becuase this is one of the nicests communities out there smile.gif.

I bought my ST as a project car about 2 and a half years ago.
It was pretty beaten and used up all over the body (for example, stones managed to remove the paint job from the hood, and there was even some rust on the fender flares), blue smoke was coming out of the exshaust pipe whenever I came over 5,5 K rpm, and the 7A-FE powerplant was consuming more oil in a month, than 200 fat people would for a 3-day barbecue weekend every week for a year. smile.gif It also had a small amount of about 155 000 km (or about 100 000 miles) on the odometer.
Suspension was no longer called that (since the shocks were permanently "shocked", and one of the springs cracked in 3 different places...also, the bushings and some other stuff were completely gone.
As far as the interior is concerned, the seats were also in a very bad condition, and almost every plastic part in the interior made its own snap crackle and pop ™ sound while driving around town...smile.gif
So yeah, you might say that I bought a piece of crap!

But...

Ever since I sold my Audi 80 (which was at the time just about as tuned as it could ever be), and my 1973. VW Beetle (which was also a kind of a show car), I wanted to buy a car for myself that I could really enjoy and tune and re-style as I saw fit...so, after a while, I looked at some European cars (Opel Calibra, BMW 320is (E30), and even FIAT Coupé), and decided not to look any further, so I switched to Japan, and narrowed my choices to Mazda Astina (323F, BA) , and Honda Civic Coupe 1,6 VTEC (EK)...
Mazda fell out of my good graces because even though it looked pretty cool and kinda sporty with its curved bits and pieces, it was in fact pretty dull, very lumpy and slow.
Honda on the other hand also looked very good, its quality is indeed renowned in these parts as much as it is in the rest of the world, and its speed and acceleration were satisfying, but it still had one major flaw...its interior looked like a 15th century toilette, made me want to throw up my fine lunch when I actually sat in and considered driving it, so needless to say that it was just not good enough for me to sit in for a longer period of time!:)

After that experience, it was pretty hard for me to sit in any Honda (including the last two generations of Prelude...the one with te "Star Trek" console, which is stretched all over the car (including the peripheral view), and the one after...which is about just as ugly as the one in the Civic, but a bit more hard to describe!:)).

One day, I was so eager to find myself a car, that I went out to look at Toyota Paseo...needless to say that I abandoned the idea as soon as I entered the first curve on the road!

So, while I was checking out this Toyota, a friend suggested made me to look for some other one...and that was a Celica...

5th generation is one of those "always cool-looking" cars that defy all ages and times, but it was just not quite cool enough (and there were no GT-Fours available for purchase at the time), so I started looking at the 6th generation...
At a glance, it was a bit too big, and it was WAY TOO expensive for me (especially since there are only a few of 6th generation examples driving around in Croatia), GT´s were more rare to find than a golden frog that grants you wishes, but I somehow managed to find one ST that could...the rest is more or less described in the beginning of my post!

So why did I buy it?
Because of 3 things;

1. It was cheap
2. It was love at first sight
3. I obviously was lacking some experience, since I bought a project car which would be tough to work on, since the aftermarket parts are even more rare than my sleep overs at Cindy Crawford´s house!:)

But...(reprise)smile.gif

I´ve spent a small fortune, and I rebuilt Mako (yup, that´s her name;)) yet again...and now, she´s painted, bodykitted, upholstered, engine is completely repaired and modded with 2-liter bored 7A-FE block (unique mod in these parts, at least to my knowledge) and lots of other goodies. Suspension got its new edge (even if it still may be relatively high off the ground;))...one might say that everything more or less sat in its place perfectly!
I just need some JDM projectors, and it will be all done!

So, as a conclusion to all of this, I must say that everything (so far) has been more than satisfactory for me! I really adore my car!
Of course, the speed of it may not be so thrilling, and the acceleration might to be missing from time to time (especially on 18˝ wheels), but at least I´ve got good gas mileage, and still I´m not driving a Civic, which is pretty much self explanatory.biggrin.gif
One day I will sell it eventually, but it will definately be a part of my driving heritage forever...just because it is so giving.

I just wish that Toyota once again turns its corporate mind to making yet another generation of Celica, even though the 6th generation´s flare and driveability will never be quite matched (IMHO).

Sorry if I got carried away with writing...smile.gif

Don´t regret for something that looks so cool!:)

Besides, a girl in a 6th gen is more or less a wet dream for me on its own...and the fact that it´s a convertible just makes the dream more intense!;)

many times. its been good to me, but now that the 2nd motor in its dead, and I gata get a 3rd one to get it running. and it still needs loads on interior work, basicly the only thing done is the body which still needs a new front lip, idk I wanted to leave it for an mr2 after the first motor went, then when i 2nd went I had put so much money into it I could not sell it so I just got another car (LOVE MY RS) idk i'm too deep into it to have feelings about it, its in the garage covered up sleeping for the winter and for me to deciede if I want another 5s or what.

But in the long run.. i've always loved having the celica and the community that comes with it smile.gif

Hell no. I knew what I was getting into [second 6th Gen GT] and I still don't regret it. The car does fairly well in the Houston Imports scene and it very rare. Just enough 6th gens that if we see each other at a meet we usually will hang out an compare mods.

I have thought about getting a FASTER car.
I would not say better, because i feel that the 6th gen's are so rare,
I have only seen a HANDFULL in my area.

But when it really comes down to it, i have way, WAY
to much sentiment attacthed to my car.

BTW for all you guys who want RWD you should check
out Dr.Tweaks thread in engine discussions...

I regretted buying mine a week after I got it... not by any fault of the car.
I bought it becasue I have always loved the style of the 6th gen, and I needed something with better gas mileage.. ( I was currently spending about 100 a week in gas in my SUV)
Then out of the blue... My appendix ruptures, I am in the hospital and I now have 2 car payments.
My doc said Id be out of work for 2 months, and I dont get paid for time off.....
My first reaction... "****.. I just bought another car..."

Oh well.. Luckily, I convinced my doc to let me go back after 3 weeks.. and I am still recovering.. but.. 20 bucks a week in gas.. I cant complain.
I love my car now, and am glad I got it...

No I don't regret having my celica. The only thing I regret was having to spend way to much on it. The funny things is that I didn't spend a whole lot on accessories and cosmetic parts for the car, it was the labor to do the body changes and a/c components that killed my wallet frown.gif Oh well, i'm very happy with the way the celica looks and runs now.

when i was looking @ getting either a civic sir/integra gsr/prelude/rsx-s/7th gen celi gts/is300 i decided on the 6th gen celi.

it's interior is light years ahead of integra/civic/prelude
and
it's a lot rarer than rsx/7th gen celi here...

i decided to get the 6th gen now and to get an is300 couple yrs after grad...

but... the reason i kinda regretting any car at all is because i'm seriously thinking about leaving the country after graduation and after all the $ i put into it... i won't be able to take it with me....

i haven't regretted getting my celica yet.. i mean the only part that sux is the little thats available in after market parts. However you look around, and have the right ammount of money you can do so much with the car..

And i love how i'm one of the onlly ones driving it around my area.. I've seen only 2 in the area i live, which is very heavily populated. So i know i can turn heads when i drive buy. -cnelson. smile.gif

look at my screen name and you have my answer lol

this car is so dependable! I've had friends with just 3 yr old cars that have more problems then mine ever had

I have 254k on my 7a lol, which will get retired in a month or too for a tweak swap

But for the first 7yrs i woned the car i was broke and ran it into the ground but it kept on chugging, cosemeticly it took a beating, so bad my folks and friend where like sell it and get somethng new, i was like hell no it handles to well and i always had a vision in my mind of hw it would be when i was finsihed with it.

well now for the last year i've been working hard to restore it and man it turns so many heads now days, their even peole who dont know what it is lol. Anyway luv my car and will probaly marry it when i get a engine swap lol

but yeah the rarity looks and handling are unrivaled, power can be fixed lol

Every six months or so I think about it, mainly for practical resons (I do a lot of mountain biking and while the celi is better than say a 200sx for putting bike in it is far from perfect for the job), but I dont think I could sell it, put too much time and effort it to it smile.gif

I wouldnt mind having something faster, but my celi has been very reliable and gets plenty of comments, which cant be said about a lot of 12 year old cars.

I have the best of both worlds (in a sic, distopia kind of way). I bought a totalled (sideswiped, light frame damage, but still was able to put on new doors that open and shut with a little kick or two) 94 Civic EX 4dr 5speed with 220k on it for 500 bucks last spring. Immediately got rid of my car I was making payments on (an accord) and just said I'll deal with the windows not going up or down due to mismatched wiring harnesses when the doors were replaced and use the a/c in the summer and enjoy not having a car payment. We just had a baby so when tax time came around my bank account finally looked nice, not to mention the extra money saved rather than going into car payments (300 a month)... so I decided I was gonna buy something closer to what I always wanted.

I didn't think a 6th gen was ever something I was gonna find for what I set aside to spend (around 3000, didnt want to spend too much on a toy), but one random sunday I just happen to be checking craigslist before going to grab dinner, and there was a 96 ST one (older) owner with only 109k on it and all maintenance records (this guy was more anal than a proctologist's job), and they were asking $3000. A test drive later and quite a few questions, and I drove off in my new car.

I kind of regretted buying it when I tried to put a baby seat in it. Then I realized that I still have another car with 4 doors to drive the little one around in when needed.

So yeah. I'm back to feeling like I did on the way home from picking it up. Love this little car. Just need to have the patience to wait for it to warm up a bit to do some aftermarket work to it to take care of that whole "slow" thing.

I love everything about the Celica I got minus the lack of power. It made me smile whenever I was having a bad day. Lotta good stuff. Everyone that laid eyes on my car absolutely fell in love with the car. It made a kickass daily driver. I'll pick up another one soon though.

I now have a Honda Prelude with an H22 Vtec. It eats up gas like a mother freaker. But that will change after I get my ECU chipped. It's a bit faster than my car but sometimes when I'm driving the lude, I imagine myself being inside the celica again. It gave me that sense of passion and pride I use to have with my car before I wrecked it. I loved my car so much that I didn't sell it after the wreck. It sitting at my grandma's house collecting dust! LoL. I just need new front axle and rear axle on the passanger side. Exterior is still in good shape but it's just too much work for me to repair her back to the way she was. I kinda want to sell her but I do want to keep her too and finish her after I finish with my lude.

I don't regret getting my Celica, I just wish I would have bought a GT hatch. I love the Celica platform, and the canyon carver suspension set up, I just wish it were faster. I'm a speed addict, and it's not quite doin it for me.

The only regret I have ever had is that I wished I had bought a RWD or AWD vehicle. I do love the looks of the 6GC though and it has a great community! I do like turning heads though since there are so few.

After hitting a dog a year ago (the dog survived, 40MpH), I decided to sell the celica. I needed a car with more room, because I got a daughter. It had to be a toyota at least, so I bought a nearly new Avensis turbo diesel (don't know if you it in the USA). That was the biggest mistake I've made. Nothing wrong with that car, but I couldn't get used to it the way it feld on the road and so on. After nagging and wining for about a year I got "permission" from my wife to sell this car, and this weekend I get my GT. (I'm so happy) biggrin.gif

There have been many times where i have regreded buying my celica in the first place or regreded doing any number of things, but at this point I'm happy with it and glad I have it as I dont owe anything on it at all, its free for me to have (dont run so no issurance, mantinance, tabs etc to pay) its a little more then a rolling statue basicly, some day I it will run again but for now its just as i see it in pictures.

I dont regret it, the celi as a first car is awesome, reliable, slow but enough to drive, very good handing, decent economy (st), since it was my first car and a car to learn i dont regret it, but, now i want to sell it, i dont think it satisfy me anymore, i need a bit more of power and less weight, probably a 180sx

Much goes for Louisville, KY. EVERYONE has s14s and civics here.
The only car I'd buy other than this is a GT-4 or a Supra. Wiki puts it as "supra-esque".
But more often than I not, even though mine is still mostly stock with sideskirts...I get hella looks.
the car just looks great and feels even better.

I'm so glad that I bought my 95 ST.

In my neighborhood I've seen two celicas and that's about it.
I saw the car in a place nearby Leeuwarden (Harlingen for those who live in Holland) and once I could afford it I went over to check it out with my dad and a week later I drove it home.
Since then I haven't had any regret of buying it, besides the lack of power (116 bhp).

There are things I wish were different about it but overall I love it.

When I get my shop set up I'm gonna get to take her apart and make those changes.

Motor-wise I wish I had more top-end. Any time I used to race cars I would almost always take them from the line, but after some good distance they would step up past me a fender.

Well I can't really complain about my car, my dad got it for a good deal and I traded my 1976 Ford F100 (FAST, but gas hog) to him for it. I'm actually selling the celi though... I've got my eyes on a Flint Mica '08 tC. And the tC's a 5 speed. no more auto smile.gif But yeah, even though I've only had the celi a month the ST's way too slow and I need something new...

I regret only the engine. I've bought the ST instead of GT or GT4. Haven't find any GT in good condition and GT4 was too expensive and rare here. But I like my Celi and I'm pretty sure it's one of the nicest cars in the neighbourhood tongue.gif

I regretted picking up the Yelli Celi for the first month I had it... because money became rediculously tight... then I got paid at the end of the month and it wasn't such a big deal... then I sold my hatchback and now I'm straight ballin'

I regret getting my ST now. I had a chance to pick up many different cars, but I was ignorant... especially into thinking that I can make it into a GT4!

A couple of cars passed me such as, 325i, AE92GTS, SC300, and Prizm GSi.. I wish I could have picked up the GSi instead since it was only 1250.

Now I regret geting my 2000 Celica GTS, 20 bucks of gas last me 4-5 Days. I plan on getting it set and selling it for an MR2/Spyder, or something RWD in the future.. [after college..]

i don't regret buying mine and i also don't regret selling it either haha. when i bought it there was only one gt in the town i live in and no st but in the past year they have neen popping up like weeds there wasn't a day that went by where i didn't see a gt go by it kinda bugged me but i was the only one in town with an st until a kid up the street bought one i was furious. so a week later i went to a mitsubishi dealership that had a 3000gt i was eyeballing for the past month and traded the old girl in for it needless to say the only thing i miss is the gas mileage... haha crazy thing is a friend of mine bought the celi 2 days later so it really hasn't left my life completely i do all the maintenance for him

Dude, the Subaru 2.5RS Impreza is SLOW! My boy's Integra type-r all motor kills those. Why would you want to settle for less? A friend of mine bought one a while back and she was enthused becuz it's a Subaru with AWD turbo. Later she hated it cuz it lost to almost everything out there. She missed her old car. All I can say is, if you want to settle for more, go after an LS6 V8 Trans Am (my personal favorite since i was a kid) or atleast a Turbo MR2 or S2000.

But over all, I've had 2 other cars in my life besides the Celica. A H22A (JDM) Vtec Prelude and a 3.0 Vtec Accord. And honestly, the Celica is bar far the most adored by me. No doubt that there is lack of power, but definately more benefitial and RELIABLE than the other two cars. I don't regret getting it at all and probably won't ever sell it. I'll probably pass it down to my children or something.

Sometimes I wish I had something else with a little balls to it, but what keeps me going is the thought of what will actually happen when I sell my 200sx and boat. 3sgte.
