I'm in the process of tidying up a couple of loose ends on my car, one of which is a non-functional Cruise Control lever. It came apart and the inner spring contacts were lost, way back before I had the motor swap done. I in my junkyard travels today, I happened upon a single 6th Gen WITH cruise, and a few 7th gens in one yard. HOWEVER......
My Celica is a 99, and to my knowledge the 98-99 models got the 3 spoke steering wheel. Using the cruise lever pics from the following thread (http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=67382) I went ahead and pulled mine, and confirmed it's of the style that the 7th gen is. I would say it's safe to assume that all the 98-99 6GC's with the three spoke wheel and cruise have the 7th gen styled switch. I was about to pull the wrong one tomorrow. Posting this FYI because the BGB has almost no info on the cruise other than diagnostics, and the information about the differences in the cruise lever assemblies wasn't to be found on here. Stolen pics from the other thread, credit to "Shegarhuney" for them (I pulled and hosted on my account so they won't get lost). 94-97?? 7gc cruise stalks won't work in our cars. The resistors in the stalk need to be swapped out for the the resistors in the 6gc stalk, per njccmd2002.
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=58797 I made the 94-97 stalk work on my 97 steering wheel since my facelift wheel stalk was broken, just like most of them seem to be. It pointed downwards on an angle but functioned perfectly. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. The 6th gen at the scrap yard has cruise, but it's the four post steering wheel and I don't want the wrong one in there. I really need to find the correct cruise lever somewhere. -------------------- |
