Banded Steel Wheels Options

i have always had a thing for steelies and was looking into steel banded steelies.

for those who dont know what banded steel wheels are... its basically a steelie that has been cut (usually around the inner side) and a band of steel added then welded back together to make them wider. eg a 16x6j to a 16x8j

has anyone used banded steelies before? any issues? are they safe?

is there any websites that sell steelies? i came across a site that done alot of retro style alloys and steelies but for the life of me i cant remember what it was.

also, legality of using them doesn't bother me so dw about input on that.
