I'm doing a group buy for the webcamshaft Performance grinds for our engine. You can choose ANY grind you want as long as it's from the 5sfe. I contacted them and they said they can cut a deal with me. If I can get 3+ buyers there'll be a 25% discount. If I can get 10+ buyers there'll be a 40% discount. Retail price is $816 which makes it $612 with 3+ buyers and $490 with 10+!!! Dirt cheap if I manage to get the 10 buyers. The process is pretty simple but time consuming.
Here's the website for the available grind. Click "PRODUCT SEARCH". http://www.webcamshafts.com/ For bolt on camshaft. I'd go for the 294 grind. It's bolt on. The process will be: You will pay for the discounted retail price along with a discount code that was given to me. I'll give the code out once we've reached 10 buyers. Also you'll be paying for the shipping to webcams. I'd suggest giving them a call about the group buy that's being grouped by "Ken Lee" which is me. Talk to Faith, she's the one I'm dealing with btw. I'd expect the cams to be away from you for at least a month. So if your car can't be down for that long, just go to your local junk yard and pull one out from any 5sfe so that's mr2, camry, celica, or rav4. If you're interested please email me at lee-boi93@hotmail.com or comment below. For those of you who thinks this is a scam or something you can call webcams at (951) 369-5144. They know me by Ken Lee and they know what I'm up to. Here's also my 6gc.net buyer/seller reputation. http://www.6gc.net/members/ILoveMySilly97/reputation http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...52417&st=20 ok here's the pics. ![]() the cams ![]() ![]() and my nose ![]() now the real info ![]() now my motor has 156K miles on it and my compression was low, but consistant. here's a comparison was another 5s, 1998 51K miles on it ![]() and some #s info ![]() and the INFO my 5s topped out at 123whp and 126ft/lbs of torque. on the 1998 stock 5s (intake) at 4700 RPMs it doesn't make any more power, it drops hp like a rock. My 1995 156K 5s continues to make hp. I peaked out close to redline and CONTINUED TO MAKE POWER until then. So at redline (about 6000 RPMs) I had about 123hp while the stock had The stock 5s 103hp. As for torque, the 98 drops off at 4700 and mine continued hold out longer. I had 110ft/lbs of torque and the stock 98 had 92ft/lbs. The bottom line is I didn't dyno my car before the cams were installed so I don't know exactly were I'm starting from. From the research I've done they seem to average around 105-110hp to the wheels. If my motor was in peak condition like the 98 then I have gained about 10hp to the wheels. The important thing here is my car now holds the power later in the RPM band and where any other stock 5s drops off, my car continues to make power, right to redline. now when I turbo... Here's another dyno sheet with intake and tuned. ![]() This post has been edited by ILoveMySilly97: May 5, 2014 - 6:54 PM -------------------- |

Sorry won't cut it this time. Also I just remembered something kind of peculiar. The 5S-FE in the MR2 made 135hp throughout its life, even when the 6GC was reduced to 130hp. I suppose since it didn't undergo a model change in those years it stayed as it was.
That's ok, maybe you can regrind some 7M-GTE cams instead then. Or maybe I should buy a car that I can just buy a cam for under $200 and call it a day, who knows. I sure as Hell don't. Everyone should shave their heads while they're at it, there needs to be more compression in the world. just go to your local junk yard and pull one out from any 5sfe so that's mr2, camry, celica, or pickups. im pretty sure the 5S-FE did NOT come in any pickups. those were 22R engines. Also a guide to removing would be very helpful.
Along with some info on cheap stuff to replace while I'm in there and what needs to be checked out to ensure the engine will run for as long as possible. |

$490 is a pretty good price. I'd recommend going for the 101 grind with 1zz buckets and 2jz crower valve springs. You can get a set of cheap buckets from a junkyard head and give the head to your local machine shop to have it "calibrated" for less work and cost than what it is getting them new most likely.
This is very very tempting... but I can't afford this right now sadly ![]() -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

Fyi I had a header, bad head gasket and a cat in the exhaust. I tuned with a safc neo and a wideband. If I had a good motor and free flowing exhaust I would have gained more power overall.
Great price imo. Not simple to install, fyi. -------------------- |

Installation isn't simple but nothing really is simple when there's tons of bolts and torque specs and clearance specs to worry about. Lol. Yea cheaper but it doesn't give me the power curve I want. I want to get rid of that stupid power drop. Colt cams doesn't solve that issue in the 5sfe.

Neither do 294 Webcams. As long as the grind is the same, the results will be the same.
To get rid of the power drop past 4500 RPMs you need more aggressive cams, a better flowing intake manifold with a larger throttle body and possibly a port job on the head. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

I went onto Colt's website and the 5sfe isn't listed anymore so I'll have to check on that but here's the two cams with different profiles. Both from the 5sfe. The colt makes more torque but the power curve is still similar to the stock curve. The webcams has more hp and the power curve keeps on going until close to redline.

Colt Cams:
- intake .311 lift, 254 degree in duration, 211 duration @.050 - exhaust .318 lift, 254 degree in duration, 211 duration @.050 Web Cams: - lift .322 duration 244° (duration @.050) 218° That's the reason the cams act differently. The colt cams are milder than the webcams (less lift & duration), and they are closer fitted to the stock ones. If you could get colt cams to replicate the exact specs, it'd be the same power. The colt cams are easier to install too, because they don't do a weld and regrind for these mild grinds. They to a regrind and make up for the difference with copper shims under the bucket shims. That's the main reason why they're cheaper most likely, too. You should talk to somebody at Colt Cams, maybe they'll do group buys as well and replicate the cams. I'd be down if the price is a lot less than the webcams most definitely, and they're easier to install too which is a plus. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

Web Cams most of the time require replacing several shims. Colt Cams on the other hand, since only a regrind is done, the clearances are mostly left untouched. You might have to replace one or two shims. Web Cams could require replacing all of them if you're not lucky at all.

Welding to regrind allows them to do a larger cam (more aggressive) overall. Their regrind-only procedure cuts into the stock base circle, but they make up for the difference with the spacer shims. They are less aggressive but also less expensive to make. You could talk to someone @ Colt Cams and ask to see what it would cost for a custom grind similar to the Web Cams and compare prices. $490 is a pretty good price for Web Cams, though, but you might find them cheaper. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold
