I'd think at first I could make a joke about it, but it's not funny it's a sad irony.

I think the next hope for an American car company is Tesla. they are designing their own factories to mass produce the batteries and with that expect to reduce the cost of them by at least 30%

it's just a matter of time...

Yeah, that's the one advantage of OEM parts as they're usually made not in China. Though some cars...

You can't compare bulbs to a specific gasket. Those bulbs are NOT Toyota specific and are mass produced wherever is cheapest then repackaged and resold. I'm sure Toyota bulbs are made in China too.

I wasn't even paying attention, yeah that's such a cheap thing to begin with. I think some Sylvania bulbs are made in Europe still.

Taiwan isnt a part of China. China claims they own Taiwan, Taiwan claims they are a independent nation, Taiwan's navy is too massive for China to invade Taiwan and take it by force, and the USA's official diplomatic position is to not pick a side; we recognize neither claim.

the point is that so many people who pride themselves on 'freedom' will gladly exploit other people who's lack of freedom means they work for pennies a day.
and this gets us a "better deal", so we can all go shop at Walmart and "live better". and now everybody is so broke they can't afford to shop anywhere but Walmart.
I just don't believe it.

While the brand of your laptop is Japanese I promise you the components are Chinese.

Just like some companies proudly state "Assembled in the U.S.A"

That's great that the item was put together here, but the parts are still Chinese.

The car made from the most US made parts is a Camry.
GM builds some of it's engines and transmissions in China to put into cars here.
It's a mad mad mad world I say.

To be legally "Made In Wherever" versus "Assembled In Wherever" 70-80%(can't remember exact off top of head) of the components have to be sourced from that country. Not only is the laptop itself labeled as Made In Japan, but even the batteries and disk drives are labeled as such. So yeah, it was made in Japan. Fujitsu is pretty much the last computer manufacturer to still make their products in Japan. Then again you pay for it too.

Only the Fujitsu life books are assembled in japan, the rest are from china. Also when they state assembled the parts can be sourced from anywhere.
99% of ALL computer components come from China, Thailand, Taiwan or Malaysia.

If you do happen to have a life book, the hard drive is manufactured in Thailand and the CPU is from either Malaysia or Costa Rica

It's an older LifeBook that states made, not assembled. I guess even they succumbed like the rest of the industry then. That's a shame, for ten years old it's still a fairly decent laptop. I haven't taken it down to the motherboard(haven't had a reason), but all the major components like the drives etc.. are even labeled Made in Japan. It surprised me even when I got it, then again it was like $2,000 in 2004 so I guess one would hope so. Yeah, when I see assembled I just take it as, "It came from China as a box of parts and WE put it together." I don't have a problem with buying from Chinese companies or even outsourced companies that treat their Chinese workers well(Yamaha off the top of my head), it's when borderline slavery is involved that I have a problem with buying their product.

My Grandpa was the kind of guy who wouldn't accept a ride to the Hospital in a Volkswagen, that was Hitler's car. and now you've got AC Delco of Detroit, Michigan having Anything made in "the people's Republic of China".
To me it's not only that You get what You pay for, but when you pay for something and the money goes in part to pay local workers, and those workers go out and spend their money and that money is going back into the local system so that those people have money to go out and buy other things from local businesses, this is the cyclical nature of "the Economy".

and of course it has nothing to do with 'these workers' being better than 'those workers', it's the companies and the way they do business that I have no desire to support. but these days even boycotting products doesn't seem to do much good.
and if you complain about a companies policies they will just start an advertising campaign to convince everybody that they are really good people, they won't actually change anything.

down in Independence, MO they have a huge, old, rundown, abandoned factory that just sits there, it was originally one of the GM plants around here that was converted to making B-17s during WWII, there used to be so many working class people who could afford to have a family and make a respectable living. Now all these old factories are closed, and this town is the Meth Capitol of the Midwest. that's the only thing we have left to manufacture, and sell to the rich kids in Kansas.
I would say that maybe when we go to war with China we can ask them to make some tanks and planes for us, but the truth is that China has no need to go to war with us, all they'd have to do is say STFU, and we would have no choice but to comply.

I've seen some packaged as being made in Czech or Belgium? I'll have to look the next time I'm at Hell-Mart.

I met a guy from Ireland once he said over there its the polish come and undercut wages because their country is so poor. And I think one dollar is worth 20 in Czech money.
It happens all over the world.
