I just picked up two 10" alpine type-r's and I'm looking around at different amps. What kind of wattage is necessary to power them both? Should I get an amp to power each sub? I realize this is a foolish question, but car audio has never really been my thing. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well I decided to go with a Alpine V12 2-channel 1000watt. With this kind of power behind it, it should hit pretty hard. I'm installing it all next week when I have free time. Hope it all turns out nicely. Thanks anyway guys.

Hard yes, accurate...questionable. I had a PowerAcoustik 1100 for a long time, last 4 yrs before it finally lost good ground in the amp itself... i had 2 12'' JL W0's. Now I have a 350 powering them, and i am alot happier with the sound. Also im older now and dont need EVERYONE to hear me in the streets.

Make sure your subs can handle the power. Check the RMS on them and dont bridge that...and have ur gain down.

i dont think those subs can handle that amp, but im not sure on all the specs on them. just remember that subs have power ratings for a reason. also, dont go by any peak power ratings use the RMS ratings.

I'm with you.

In addition, it's more installation than power my friend. Design a good box and you won't need big silly amps, which means less money spent.
