Guys did a compression test and got readings of 196-205 across the board. I know a lot of numbers vary and sometimes on older engines as long as they are fairly uniform it's ok. If these are considered high readings my thoughts might be to oil seepage/carbon buildup. Your thoughts since these are older engines.

Any reason for the compression test or just checking? You could try running a high PEA injector cleaner like Gumout 2x for a couple tanks of gas and then do a piston soak with some solvents and recheck compression.

Just checking... I was thinking about a top rebuild. So are those numbers ok since its uniform?

Most engines since the late 80's should be in the 180-200 ballpark, I remember reading on the 7A Toyota had 180 as nominal and then within some 10% or so as acceptable. I'd imagine the 5S wouldn't be much different.
