Do any of you guys know if the tornado realy works?

Tornado(they have the commercial on tv, little metal thing that you stick in your air intake tube suppost to increase air flow to the engine and add hp. Now i see they have it in JC Whitney too.)

Does anyone out there know if this thing realy works or is it a piece of junk.

Thanks confused.gif

it won't give you any more HP than an intake will... if it was that easy, everyone would have one.

i bought it a while back, i noticed a slight increase in acceleration, but not worth what i payed for it. it does save me a couple of bucks a tank tho.....wierd....but don't expect the 10-12 HP increase like it says tongue.gif

oh and another thing, the size that it recommends does not fit w/o some modification. its best to get 1 size smaller. i fit mine right in front of the throttle body, cuz i mean the thing is supposed to swirl the air so that it goes in easier, right? well whats the point if u put it on the other end where the filter is, the air will go straight, but then get all mixed up as it goes through the intake tube, which is nowhere near straight. rolleyes.gif

hope this helps....i posted this question bout a year ago on celica.net and all everyone did was flame me. thing was, NOBODY actually bought it, they just opened their mouth and spoke whatever crap came out. ya gotta have experience before u have wisdom...... smile.gif

bad thing is that it still blows full power no matter what rmp you are at. idle or wide open. So at idle it is still forcing all that extra air in there that you won't need. It would be less expensive to buy some piping and a filter and make you own cold air intake. And you will get more power than that thing will give you. That "mod"is for ricers. IMO. I mean it looks okay under the hood but a CAI would look better. That's all.

Matt, I could be wrong but I believe what they are talking about is the tornado fuel saver, which goes inside the intake(so It wouldn't look good under the hood, cause you cant see it). The idea behind the tornado is that air is actually swirled, Its not like one of those electrical fans.

I may be mistaken, but if your talking about those fans that are supposed to make 2 psi, then yeah those might be considered ricer, but to each his own.

Forkee correct me if I'm wrong, I do not own a tornado.

The thing with experience is that you always get it right after you needed it. redface.gif rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

Ok, here is what you do. Make you own! there is no need to pay 60+$$ for a little bit of aluminum when you could rig something up yourself and devote the $60 to your body kit fund or something.
