 Sportline vs. Prokit, Which one?? |

Hey every1, i was looking over eibachs website and was reading about their 2 different types of springs, sportline and prokit. The prokit is advertised as having a 1 inch drop, which is a "moderate" drop to them, while the sportline kits which drop the car 1.5 inches are said to be an "extreme" drop. My question is this, does the .5 inch difference really make the sportline an "extreme" drop compared to the prokit? I want the sportline but i dnt see how .5 inches makes it such an extreme drop....

1.5 inches is an extreme drop for our cars, especially because it will sit down to about 1.75". With this kit, you will need to have your camber readjusted. that .5 inches is 50% more than the prokit, so I'm sure it's safe to say it's an extreme lowering kit. But, whatever, they're just words.
Are you looking for a very low drop, or just something moderate? --------------------  |

i was very shocked when i got my sportlines put on. the drop was very extreme compared to how my car was before. like MoralWarfare said, its more like 1.75-2in drop when it gets installed.
sportlines are the way to go if you have 17s on a 6th gen. it does a very good job at killing the massive wheel well that our cars have. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Well, like lagos said, the sportlines do a good job at killing the fender gap with 17's. But I have the sportlines with the koni's. I am very happy with the ride on them. But if you are looking for a good suspension setup then go with the sporlines. On the difference on the moderate to extreme drop, i can't say much since i haven't seen a 6th gen with the prokit on. But it looks very good with the sportlines on.

What are koni's??? I am not familar with anything that has to do with suspension. Also for an ST would suspension work be better that try get what little HP you out of the engine??? Still learning William |

Koni is a suspension brand that specializes in struts. They make higher quality struts than KYB (generally), and the Yellows are a very high quality, affordable strut.

Those look like a nice package. Can you specify a different spring rate than what you have listed? Can you change to a stiffer spring at a later time? Are the dampeners single or double adjustable? (Looked like they were single (compression only) but I thought I would ask) Can you get the dampeners re-valved later? Thanks |

Yeah, on a similar note. Looking at some 215-17's and wanting to have it lowered somewhat. I know that the Sportlines are recommended for 17's, but I've got a bit of a dilemna. I'm a pretty big guy (210lbs), and I frequently haul crap back and forth. Lets say I have myself, and two other people (guesstimating at 180lbs), and another 30lbs of random crap within the car. Will the car, with Sportlines on, be able to support that? I can just imagine that the wheel would be rubbing against the inside of the well, or that it would be TOO low, and scrape everything I drove across on any kind of bumpy road. In this scenario, would the Pro-Kit be my better choice?
..same scenario, but with say, the Invader kit. What would be my better choice? -Brian |

I have sportlines with my 16" GTS rims. There's about 2 fingers width from the rear tire and fender. The front sits a bit higher... about 3 fingers width but it looks much better than on stock springs. I'm sure it'll be lower once the springs settle in (only been on for a few days). |

What about with stock 15's? Will the sportlines be too low for a daily driver? (i.ei, massive speed bumps at school and the crappy pothole ridden highways)

How much does Eibach Pro-Kit actually drop when installed? coz i heard that sportline drop 1.75~2in when its installed.

I have Pro-Kit. The drop is, like they say, about an inch. Eibach says any more than that will lose the vertical clearance you need for spring compression and extension. That is, the Sportlines are more cosmetic than performance. But .75 inches ain't much more of a drop. So if you want to slam it, get coilovers, if you want to corner, get the Pro-Kit.

where did you get that about Sporslines? the actual brochure for Eibach said the Sportslines were more performance geared than the pro-kit and not ass recommended for daily-drivers?
it's not like there a 4" drop where keeping the handling could be a little risky with the spring set-up --------------------  |

Defninitely need alignment unless you want your tires to look hella funny in 3,000 miles. The alignment shop will probably tell you if they can successfully align you. If not, you need the kit.

I have the sportlines/kyb's and have stock 15" gt wheels.... The ride is great, its a little bounce or hard somtimes but not bad ..... Ive only bottomed out once, when i had me my pop's an bro in the car.. and i went to quick over the tall-bump... You have to just go real slow over the bump's and over the humps your fine. |

i have the pro-kit with the 7th gen gts rims...the gap isnt as big but its still pretty noticeable if u ask me...im thinkin about switchin to sportlines for a cleaner look...i dont think the sportlines are good if u are planning to get a front lip either
