 HELP noise from radio, band frequcys?? |

hello
just got my celica, its am import and the sales man said the band frequancy needs to be changed because its a japan station or somthing, anyway they have converted it to UK band but there is a noise even when I switch it off, when i turn it up loud the rear speakers crackle. what is it and how can i change it? -------------------- |

As in, you got the car from Japan, with the stock Japan radio?

yeah but have changed it to Uk, when I start the car put on the radio the noise starts, then if i switch the radio off there still a noise, im getting a new stereo and speaker now. cheers -------------------- |

Hi, I had to get a band expander for my radio too - without it I could only get 2 stations.
In my previous car I got the same staticy noise after turning off the radio and twisting the volume. In my case, the previous owner hadn't soldered/clamped the speaker wires and instead had just twisted them together and wrapped them with insulation tape. As soon as I redid the wires (with solder) the noise was gone. I guess it has something to do with the metal wires oxidising? Hope this helps
