Today I was bored and felt like working on the car, so I put a GT-Four-style grill in the front bumper, and I think it came out ok. It sure looks a lot better than the massive spider-web cracks that filled that area of my bumper. smile.gif

Total cost was $1.07, and that was for the four feet of 3/16" rubber line that I cut a slit in to outline the cut out area. I got the mesh grill from my mechanic for free. smile.gif

Here's a couple pics.

I think I'll drill more holes, then install my Toyota emblem on there, so it kinda covers up the existing holes. smile.gif And the bumper already was pretty damaged, so I wasn't too concerned.

And I used a Dremel with a fiberglass-reinforced cutting wheel to cut out the hole.

here is an idea: you could paint the emblem and center it on the grill.

at first I thought it was a sticker wink.gif It is a great idea and with a little work this could be a great great thing. I was thinking of something pre-made so you can just cut and slide it in. Something that would give it more of an indented look like the GT4s.

Coomer, that is an awesome job biggrin.gif

Thanks for the comments everyone. I didn't use any sort of an adhesive to hold the black tubing on, and it holds fine because it's tight on the edges of the bumper.

Oh, and before I went out tonight, I drilled a couple holes in the bumper and installed a new Toyota emblem. The front bumper looks way, way better now, and I'll be sure to take pics tomorrow. smile.gif

Yeah need more pics to judge it properly.. looks kinda top-heavy from those angles! I'd try to find some gunmetal spraypaint that matches the rims too because the mesh colour doesn't look like it matches anything else on your car, but that's just me

looks great. I thought it was photoshop'd at first.

altho I agree it looks a bit top heavy, with the toyota emblem on there I bet it lessens that effect. overall some nice work smile.gif

That's what I've been planning to do. I just wanted the mesh grill in there immediately, and didn't want to wait for paint to dry. wink.gif

A couple of my friends thought so too, but overall, I'm pretty happy with it. smile.gif

I'd take pictures with the emblem on, but I can't drive the car now, because I'm waiting for the driver's seat to dry. Some stupid people got next to Natalie and I today and threw a coffee drink into my window and it hit me and exploded, covering the inside of the car in coffee. mad.gif I spent the last couple hours cleaning the interior, and the fabric cleaner is drying now.

wow coomer, i'd be pissed. explain what you did. And.... if you want... you have about 2000 friends that could find this guy. smile.gif

IMO, I not very fond of the grill. However, I'm not fond of the GT4 bumper either... but I applaud you for your work. You do have skills. Post a picture with the T and it might sway my opinion. Now all to make is a coffee resistant interior wink.gif .

i would have gotten out and beaten their asses....

lol

it looks good, but it looks outta place.....

edit: looking at the pics, i think if you chopped out the rest of those bars in the opening of the bumper, then put some mesh inside there, it would look alot better....

Yeah, I was really mad about the latte thing. I would've beat the punks up, but it was just Natalie and I, and they were big guys who would've killed us. They got out of the car after we followed them and wanted to fight, but we just stayed in the car, and called the cops. Unfortunately, the cops just didn't care. frown.gif

Anyway, here are some more views of the front bumper with the grill. Sorry for the low quality collage, but I've gotta run and I figured I'd post this before I take off. smile.gif

You need to move your T logo higher. Also, you should make the grill larger upwards and make sure is not square but the top side is longer than the bottom side. If you round the edges a bit more then it would be perfect.

Its pretty cool as it is aswell anyway.
