does anyone know how to fix this? It only does it at low RPMs but it would feel like a rigged solution if i just raised the idle, right now its at like 6-7 hundred rpms

oil pump is on its way out, better replace it fast, unless you want to replace the whole engine

its really in the manual?

thaty doesnt make any sense, when the light is off is when things are good.

just in case, take it to a dealer and see what they say

What is happening is the idle dipping down doesnt send enough power to the alternator which in turn cant keep the oil pressure up.

Dont know how to fix it but thats the explanation my friend gave me

The oil pump is driven mechanically off the rotation of the engine. Oil pressure has absolutely nothing to do with the alternator or electrical system.

What 97ss said is right. The light only comes on when the oil pressure is below a certain level. If your oil pressure is below that level, even at idle, there is a problem.

ok I am grateful for your help but the manual says on page 48:

"The light may occasionally flicker when the engine is idling or it may come on briefly after a hard stop. There is no cause for concern if it then goes out when the engine is accelerated slightly."

I would still worry. And idleing at 600 rpms is kinda low.

I would rise the idle 600 is really low.

try turning on your air conditioner at idle and see if it the engine starts to shake.

the oil light started doing that to me at idle and occasionally when i braked. a little while later it threw a rod. a new oil pump is not that expensive neither is the oil pan gasket or high temp RTV.

just thought i would let you know my experience.
