well im not trying to brag or anything...i always thought the sti was a good looking car...but its amazing that when u put them side by side the celi looks better.

but i bet if i posted this in the subaru forums they would think the sti was better looking.

STi will hand it to the GT-4 stock for stock, but the Celicas look much better.

Yea the STI would kill the Celi stock for stock BUT dont forget that the STI in the picture is 2003 model but the GT4 is 1993 technology. Plus Toyota has another car for power and racing (Supra anyone?) furthermore, put them next to each other when NOT Stock for stock. the GT4 is much more reliable when modded.

actually not entirely true, it depends if its the sti with prodrive performance pack (265bhp close to 300lb/ft) if it is youd get destroyed, if not, its actually closer than ud think. But with 300 bhp ull destroy it even with the ppp

You know... I forgot to mention last night that I raced my friend's hatchback STI last week at HIN in the parking lot. We didn't do a full out race... He started before I did and all I have to say is that he never pulled on me. But mind you, this was about 1/8th of a mile. I know it was a stupid thing to do since it was in the parking lot... but we were just messin around because there were several people driving around hard trying to waste gas. You need 1/4 tank before a car is allowed to go in to show. So my friend and I just drove around with those guys... hehe.

Here's a picture of his car at the show in the Meguiar's booth.

lets stay on topic guys. I think we all know a 135 hp gt can't run against a 300 hp sti

atleast without several vtec stickers and some euro lights wink.gif

edit: is that an sti swap? I didn't think they made usdm sti's before the face change

the new STi is okay, the GT4 looks better
but the older WRX(looked like the 98-99 2.5 here in the US, or 2dr 98-2001), that thing was awesome.

I went shopping today for a WRX..not to bad there 2004 WRX Standard Package+Sun-roof goes for-22,000 (no way I can get the STi) with like 10,000 miles on it. Took a test drive, it was a very smooth ride and past 4K its pretty nice. Im just waiting to pay off the Celica then Im about 98% sure Im going to get one. Plus insurance likes the AWD+ 4 Door thing too.

eh-heh, just like the GT4, they DID have WRX's
they never came to the US, and the 2.5 with the slits and scoop in the hood was the same style as the WRX in japan.

WRX's have been made since 1992. Along with evo's and skylines they are one of the most common performance cars around over here rolleyes.gif Which is part of the reason why i got a GT-Four in the first place-to have a bit of exclusivity biggrin.gif

Well my one put down 228hp at the wheels with exhaust, filter and more boost.

My guess a stock one would do about 195ish hp. The drivetrain loss is about 25%

arent most dyno runs done in 4th gear which is usually the gear that is closest to 1:1 ratio?

why is that evo's dyno done in 3rd?

edit:the dyno was changed

I just got a quote on a 04" WRX ..*gulps*..check this out.....

....Directly from the letter,

Dear Daniel Snider:

Thank you for your Internet request.

Based on the information that you have provided, if you were to replace your
1997 Toyota Celica GT/LE with a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX, your new six month
premium would be approximately $2,005.60. This is a total increase of
$1,448.90. Please keep in mind that this is an estimate only, and the actual
premium may differ based on the Vehicle Identification Number. Since this
request was for a quote only, no changes have been made to your policy.

I have Geico and I pay now $94 a month for Liability only, this would be $330 a month...damn rolleyes.gif Scratch that idea.

how i think of it is a subaru costs £20k new and a used gt4 costs £6k plus the £14k on mods and your going to have one killer.

Yea its just you. Because not just about all celica owners but basically everybody else in this world find the GT4 to be one of the best designed cars. I have friends with Evos and STIs that are really impressed with it.

That's ok cos you're wrong!

Stock the STi will own anyday, but from what I've seen you can't build them anywhere as near as much as the 3s. Maybe 400hp+, but we have all seen the 1000+hp 3s' around... Also the wrx's will blow driveshafts like you won't believe as soon as you up the boost. I read about one guy, who did 4 in 6 months running like 240hp...

wat do u mean by own? quarter mile? track? rally? If you beleive that a car is 'fast' because it goes fast in a straight line then of course the sti is faster. However, if youre talking about real world pace then a gt4 is faster, i can take corners much faster in the gt4 than i can in my friends sti.

anyway this is not eally a fair comparison, the comparison should be wrx to gt4. Also there are so many derivatives of sti= r, ra, ra spec c, p1, ppp, 22b etc and theres only 2 gt4 models with the same power

There are quite a few race teams in Japan that did or still do run 3s-gte's in Supras. Someone posted a link to a webpage on one of the teams ages ago (sorry I cbf searching for it).

As for the sti.. I can only say from first hard experience cruising the hills around my city in one, and from also being in a '90 alltrac and from what I've heard from st205 owners here. Most people have said that stock the car isn't as fast as they expected, and needs some work to unleash the beast.

If you think the wrx can't handle, go watch a round of the WRC, or go thrash one through some hills. Don't get me wrong, I would take a GT4 over a WRX anyday of the week.. but my point is that stock the STi is (i think) faster.

the group a cars are made specifically for rally they have no resemblence to road cars, andthe group N cars are stripped and given a full suspension overhaul. By your theory the skoda fabia, hyundai accent and peugeot 206 would be great handling cars in real life.

Like ive said theres lots of different sti's so saying an sti is faster isnt thorough enough. Also a 90 alltrac handles NOTHING like an st205
