i never had any turbo setup...so the 3sgte will be my 1st!

shipping will take around 10-14days so the project starts around then.
i still have to figure out what else im going to need to buy, besides normal tune up stuff. i going to need a FMIC. anyone know what size i need and where to buy the piping? i would like to try to put an lsd in too. anyone here ever use PhantomGrip LSDs? what about clutch ...any recomendations? the 5sfe will be sold for around 800$. the engine has been taken care of very well with mobil1 oild changes every 3,000miles. Lagos. I looked into the phantom grip and actually downloaded a bunch of information from their website. Its good info and I believe its a pretty good product. I know they have a model available for 5th gens but when I looked a while back they did not have a 6th gen version. You would have to actually mail them some parts for them to match everything right. I think Clayton from celica.net has one but I am not sure. I opted for the MR2 E-153 conversion for that and longevity reasons. Good luck man. I kinda feel like we are going through all these stages together.

I emailed Phantom Grip and they said the 5th gen fits the 6th gen 5SFE tranny.
What are you goin to do with the AWD setup? |

hmm...well I they told me it would fit, but I checked and I didn't see "only applicable to 5th gen model years"....???
It should fit though if you think about it. 5th gen GTS and 6th gen 5SFE FWD tranny are quite similar. Actually the tech guy said it WILL fit the 5SFE tranny. I don't have the email since I emailed them about it 5 months ago, but email them - For Tech Questions: tech@phantomgrip.com I didn't talk to them on the phone but the tech guy who emailed me seemed to know what he was talking about it, whereas the person on the phone may have been wrong? |

Bottom line is that someone ought to check before ordering. If you go to the product order section of their website, it says they have an application for an 87-92 Toyota GTS. I am presuming this is a celica gts and not a corolla gts. There is no application for a 94-99 celica.

Awesome!! Make sure you keep us posted throughout the swap, are you doing it yourself or having a shop do it for you?
Looks like that clip has been left outside.. like most of them are. Lots of the importers over here just leave them stacked up on racks outside, many of em without bonnets/hooods which kinda pisses me off!! Should scrub up nicely though. GL. |

Phantomgrip...i just talked to someone that said he saw a phantom grip explode inside of an eclipse...so thats kind of making me not want to get one anymore.
Burien claims they can get me a toyota one for 900$ and a 2month wait....seems a little steep. intrecooler... i plan on turning up the boost to around 15psi, so i need a cooler that can handle that. would 20x6-8x3 still be the way to go? where to i get the piping from to hook this up? swap....yes i will be doing my own swap. i have a bunch of people the have offered to come down and help me out, so im hoping that i can bang this out within a short time. the clip cost me $1,800 plus around 750$ for shipping. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
