nope, in canada you can bring one with you if you move here but I dont think you can sell it.

The closest you can really get in the US is what alot of people have a "gt2" which to me isnt all that bad, some people are over 300hp to the wheels, thats not bad at all. Just sucks that they are front wheel drive, but thats what tuning suspesion and what not is for.

Even if u tune the suspension unfortunately it will never handle like an AWD car.

so i could send my car to canada with a british numberplate and reg, and 'give' it to my 'cousin'? lol

i had that dream once, i wanted to look out my window and see a gt4. after buying the body parts, i now can.
next is a 3sgte swap. yes, my car will still be fwd, but there are good and bad things about fwd and awd. knowing that my car could probably smoke a real gt4 from a roll, will make me forget about not having awd! smile.gif

But whats a GT2 is it a GT with a 2nd Gen 3s-gte swap in it.

True true, and luckily you live in a country where understeer while cornering isnt going to matter that much. Its not the look of the car thats different, its the whole package, no offence but its like getting an evo engine and putting it in a lancer 2wd and claiming its better than an evo.

No man I think it has to stay in your name! And ya I know it couldnt touch a awd, Im just saying to help drivability since a stock celica would probably have alot traction issues running 300hp, but I dont know that for sure.

i dream of a gt-four. but then i realize importing restrictions, and cost.

i realistically will never be able to do what 90% of the people on this site do, modify my car. it's an auto ST, any money i dump in to it would be a complete waste of time, and an engine swap is impossible, imo.

if you want to stay in the family, and have fun doing it - get yourself a nicely taken care of N/A MR-2. those are fun in stock form, handles extremely well, and just loves the boost. you can find them for under 10 grand easily. it still has the 5SFE in it, but it's a completely different experience. the only thing you don't want to do is let off the gas, while you're doing the cornering.

Yeah... and you'll probably get bored of the 5S motor really quick... and end up wanting to do what my brother (and a few of my friends) did in his (their) SW21... swap in a 3S-GTE... and in my brother's case... a 3rd gen...

wouldn't that be tons easier than swapping it in to the 6gc? as far as i know, it's fairly plug n play. you just have an extremely smaller area to work with.

they are a lot more fun than my 96 auto ST, that's for damn sure.

i dont dream of having a GT4. Would i have gotten one here if you could buy them easier? yeah cuz we looked for 6 months to make sure i had the nicest 6 gen in the area that was for sale. hence why we held out for a GT. even though i was like "dad who cares if its a ST i want it now" (thanks dad for making me wait)

a GT4 would be cool but its not a DREAM of mine to have one. id rather have a supra TT

i guess having a gt4 will be different. every team has a supra. a gt4 is unique, a car that not every team has, and its toyota wich will last you longer.
will my auto st can't beat an auto integra. i know having an auto can't do anything but to get an celica st for 4grand with sound stystem is hard to find.

i guess i like my car for now even though its an auto st. it stil looks nice and a manual gt still cant beat a gsr. this guy with an wrx kept dissin my celica. thats y i dream of havin a gt4 one day to show that celicas arent slow

don't feel bad man.. at least you have a car.

you need to realize that most of these people with "fast" cars wind up tuning on them pretty much every other day. they spend more time in the garage than they do on the streets. wait until you get more cash together, then go buy something faster, or swap. i'm in the AUTO ST club too, so you aren't alone. i know exactly how you feel.

I used to have that dream. Then i got my curren and i still had the same dream so i also got the GT4. Both silvers.
For the people that talk down the GT4s:

You have to undrestand that for people in all countries (except the U.S) straight line speed is not that important. Dont forget that the GT4 was made for WRC and not quartermiles. For the last couple of days i have been driving my Curren and you know what guys, the difference is so fundamental that unless you have driven it you can't really talk about it.

Yeah I dream of a GT4. Atm you can't import them here, and none of the 50 odd cars in Australia are up for sale. I was thinking of swapping a 3s into my ZR, but now I think I'll just do a bit to the 5s and wait until 2009 to import one under the 15 year rule...

I also am living the 'dream'.

The GT-Four is an excellent machine, although I can't really compare as I have never driven or had a ride in a GT or ST.

Everything I have read suggests that basically they are totally different cars - just with the same shell.

At the end of the day if you cant have something, you dont get it.

I feel for you guys n galls that want a GT4,
but cant have one mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

I guess as the saying goes "**** happens"

I have grown attached to my 4 so much,
Im getting rodgered up the arse on fuel cost,
and if the goverment turned around and said
"You cant have that car anymore". I would
seriously consider selling up, and moving
to warmer climes. With my 4 biggrin.gif

"A bit heavy" I hear you sigh frown.gif

But I likes what I likes
and life is so short.

I know this isn't changing the fact that, at this time
you cant have a gt4

enjoy what you have, life's pointless if you dont.
And if you still cant get your head around it
make it so you CAN have what you like biggrin.gif

I would move if i was getting oppressed
and told I cant have my 4. Its only a fekin car!
(a nice fekin car) I admit biggrin.gif

But compared to most cars on the road it's
looked after. it has no "bit's" hanging off of it
it has an MOT.(been checked and passed road worthy test's)
It has road tax.(payment for using the roads)
It is covered if it breaks down.(I pay to remove car from highway)

We love our cars, we PAY for our cars, in many different ways.

yes I would defo move biggrin.gif
cars are a big part of my life, so I guess I would have to biggrin.gif

If any of you ever come to the uk, I would be glad to
take you for a spin, biggrin.gif

Nup. Our import laws cover all countries.. Sadly if a car has been sold locally (there were 78 6th gen alltracs sold here I think) it can't be imported. Period.

It sux.

i dreamed 5 years of havin a gt four. (till i have my first celica st 182 in 1997) and finally i did. i have. i love my car. gt four is very rearly found. thats what i like with this car. it takes me to an other world when i drive it. car is my daily drive. it worths every pound that i pay for petrol. ( considerin in cyprus petrol is 4 times expensive then in usa)
and one think.. never compare four wheel with two...
keep dreamin one day you may have too.. dreamin is everything...

a good way to gauge exactly how different a GT4 is from a GT/ST is to go and drive a 2gen eclipse GS, then drive a 2gen eclipse GSX.

i also test drove an alltrac. AWD makes for a completely different car. the handling, the ride, and the gearing are all different, among many other things.
