17" or 18" Rims? Options

Are we lucky Gen6 owners ok with 18" rims or is there any chafage at full lock? I dont want to really get into rolling arches in etc.

I have 17" and it DESPERATLY Needs to be lowered, if you want your car lowered, I would get 17' if you just wana be stylin, get 18 or 19

the gap will be about the same no matter what if you have the right size tires. also what tire size do those with 18 have just curious cause i wold like 18's but will nevergo with less that a 40 series tire.

i have 18s but the wheels get bent easier! steering wheel gets shakey and all! its annoying and about 180 a wheel to fix.

18s look really good though

i have 18s and i love them. they make it handle better too. the only downside is that becuse you have a lower profile tire you feel the road more and it is easier to bend a rim.

i ahve 18's with 225/40/18 kumho supra's and lowered probly 1.3-1.5 and and a body kit but there is no problems wiht it , i think 17;s is to small cause you have to lower it alot more to get the proper look

Thanks lads, 18s sound really nice but Im not sure if I like the sound of a bumpier ride and the risk of bending them. Might got for 17s now!

Yeah, i have 18's and 35mm tires...its more about watching potholes than enjoying the ride. If u do gte 18's, get at least a 40mm tires, if not 45.

The bottom ones look the dogs m8 , the top ones look as if they would get scrapped quite easy as the spokes look as if they stick out a bit.

Yeah I thought that M8, both of their spokes go right to the edge which in theory should make them look bigger than they are. I made the mistake of getting some internal spokes before, they were 17s and looked like 16s...waste.

Thought they were quite cheap too

o like both of those. i agrre since the spoke comes all the way out to the edge of the rim it should look ok in 17". i prefer 18's though because they are sooo sexy.

I got 18" Wheels on my Celica and I have found them to be perfect.

My father has a celica same as mine and hes got 16" wheels and I can say without any hesitation that the performance drop is not noticable when upping the wheel size.

Just make sure you put lower profile tyres on to compensate for the larger diameter.

Much more grip now too, so cornering and braking are improved!

Heres the beast with 18"s

I think I prefer the top wheel though, but they are getting to be common with the smaller cars and the Honda people for some reaason.

I have 19's with a 1.5" drop. And no, that car with the 18's is not lowered.

The second choice is much better. The first one looks o.k. but there is too much metal and that line in the middle will always be dirty and its going to be a hassle to clean.

mine is lowered and will probably be a little lower with the 3sgte in, i also plan on racing, should i get 17s or 18s


oh and whats a good offset and width, i think i might get fender flares what should i do

i got 19x8 lowered 3" and dont have a problem with rubbing...just make sure the offset its right....

I am an accountant so i look always at prices first. You should compare the prices for 17 vs 18 rims but, you should also investigate the difference between 17 and 18 tyres.

Since you want to race i would suggest the 17. lighter, cheaper, smaller. also less money spent for replacing tyres after burnouts

Some may say that i am cheap. Before you go any further you should keep in mind that i own 2 6gc, (one Curren and a GT4) and a diesel Mitsubishi Montero offroader fully loaded , so i am spending nearly all my money just maintaining these he he. Furthermore, as i live on a remote island with a s$itload of taxes and custom duties, we pay more than double for just about anything

we are talkin about an 98' st celica with stock transmisson. even 17'' s are big for your car. you ll burn your clutch in 2 months if you push your car with 18''. we talked too much with magic about 17'' or 18'' ( our cars is much powerfull then a st and we have sport clutch). he put 17''s, i 18''. ok to fill arc s of 6gc's we all should go for 19''.
decide what you want first. nice loook only. or nice car.
if you put 18'' your car ll be like a donkey.
