that would be b/c you have an automatic... manuals can't have a remote start. i have an s2000 one. i haven't wired it up yet tho. if you do get one, make sure that you have to turn the key, then push the button. you don't want to be able to push start the car without the key in the ignition... if you have it like, that, well, that's just not a good idea. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

Two things, 1- I have a remote start on my manual trranny,, BUT they area a pain in the ass,, gonna swap it out to an auto version.
2- I still don't see the attraction to the push starts,, I mean as it is now I climb in and turn the key and car go vroom,, If I did the push button start way,, I'd have to climb in turn on the key then move my hand to the button.. Actually would take longer to start the car.. I know some think it looks "cool" but to me would be a pain in the ass.. If I was to do it for some reason I would deinitly wire it up so that I can switch back and forth from key to button, by the flick of a switch..

Yes they can, you just have to leave it in neutral and make sure you pull the parking brake. |

Don't put a push button starter on a Celica, it has no reason to be there.

I think what Charlie is saying is that it's not common to see it on a manual. Most shops will not under any circumstances install remote start systems on a manual, because it's a huge liability for them. Imagine leaving your car in gear and accidentally pressing the button to start your car and hitting some old lady who's walking in front of your car and giving her a heart attack or something(Some of you may think that's a good thing because it's one less old person on the road to endanger us all...but you get the point.

well, ideally it would stall, but most places won't do it, like coomer said, and i know it's actually illegal in several states... it's just too dangerous/unpredictable. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

I talked to someone that professionally installs car alarms, and he told me that there is gonna be a remote start coming out that starts your car even if it is in gear. You just gotta make sure your e-brake is on cause the remote start pushes in on the clutch when it starts it.

And expensive, and very, very hard to install. Is there like a sort of motor that gets hooked up to the clutch pedal to pull it towards the firewall of the car when you start it, or what? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Hey i'm not sayin it's real, i'm just tellin ya what i was told.
I think he said there was gonna be some kind of motor that pulls in the clutch just far enough to start the engine, and then you push the clutch in the rest of the was to disengage the auto start and your able to shut off your car. |
