When I drive, I almost always end up going over 40mph at some point. I know you're supposed to put the overdrive on after 40mph, but I just keep it on because it's annoying to keep turning it on and off every block or so. Besides the gas consumption, what's the consequences with just leaving it on?

The manual says leave it on unless when you climb a hill and it keeps shifting. So just leave it on.

Overdrive is basically 5th gear on a manual. It is used to give you better gas millage. So unless your on the highway and doin 50+ just keep it off while your in town.

I leave mine on all the time. It's no big deal. If you have a car with an auto with four gears, (1,2,3,4) it would be like driving with your car in third and not fourth. Just because it's a button doesn't mean it will make your car explode.
