I am looking for just a cheap front sway bay. I wish those damn cheap $30 universal sway bars fit our damn cars. I am about to turbo and I figure it will help a bit on turns but also look a bit more flashy under the hood. Lemme know what you guys are using and how much they cost.

Thanks,

Matt

Universal sway bar?

I think you'll be fine with the stock front bar, unless you want more understeer. If you do, Suspension Techniques makes a good bar, or you could go with the GT stock bar.

However, it seems that you're really asking for a strut brace, which is a different matter entirely. Some people have used a Dodge Neon brace and seem to be satisfied. Do a search for "neon strut bar" and you'll have all the info you need if you want one cheap. If you want something bolt-in, spend a little extra and have DG (a user on this board)make a bar for you.

Um, I def think your looking for a strut tower brace, not a sway bar.. sway bars are underneth, and we already have those. Other than that, a strut tower bar, really wont do much at all, .. every one says they make a hudge dif, but they really wont.. i have one, just cause i got it for like 12-15 bucks.. sway bars will help alot though.. also will be like 300 for front and rear.

I'm going to try the '95-'99 Neon strut bar myself soon...I've just gotta talk to my friends with those cars and test their bars to see what style I need to clear both my engine and hood. smile.gif

I have heard that a 95-99 dodge neon strut bar will work. You might have to modify it alittle. I have seen them on ebay for like 20 bucks.

this was posted awhile back.....

Again from what my understanding is, there is less clearence on the Celica then a neon, and you will have to use a rubber mallot (so you dont ding the bar) and pound the bar to be alittle straighter. Also I think one of the wholes is a little off and you will have to modify that one whole.

AGAIN...I have not tried this yet, and this is what I have been told.

I have the neon front strut bar - best $20 I ever spent. It cleared the hood just fine. You have to drill 2 new holes on each ring to make it fit properly. Thats it. A pic is in the profile and I have more on request.

and yes, it does make a differnce biggrin.gif

go to www.toyotaworld.com, then click on the "OEM Parts" icon (this takes you to the parts.com website). Where it says, "Search by OEM Part Number", here's the OEM part # 5360520020.

Hope that helps. I believe the Rear GT4 bar is going to cost you $62. That's not including shipping though.

When I ordered from them, they had to order the part. Took about a week and a half to ship. It's coming from a toyota dealer so it's legit. So is ordering from them. If you're not confident in the online thing then call and order it personally.

I asked for the tracking number and they provided that to me. Just make sure they'll give you one. It came UPS I believe, packaged well and everything.

Wow! Only three times? I am kind of suprised. Well, you can add one more for spelling, and start a new column for grammar. biggrin.gif

I used a camary one for my rear... fit damn good but did have to cut away some of the ring so it only mounts on two bolts and had to bend the angle a little on the part where the ring mounts to the bar... also had to drill a new hole, think it took about 20mins to get it to work

as for the front - TRD strut tower bar kicksa$$! hehe

My Neon front strut bar arrived Saturday. It looks like I will have to drill at least two new holes. What's the easiest way to mark where to drill the holes? Also, anyone know the size of drill bit I'll need to make the holes the correct size?

I made a template for mine. I think that's the easiest way to do so. Attach the template to the bottom where it's flat against the steel, then proceed to drill your holes.

I had a friend take it to his company and precision drilled the holes. The 2 holes that needed to be redrilled I made a 7/16 th diameter. Template fit perfectly.

I still haven't had the chance to drill holes in my Neon front strut tower bar. I've got the drill bit I need, but need to get the right bits for my torque wrench. I need to figure out the size and then also the correct torque for when I put it on. Anyone know these off the top of their heads?

i dont think that there is a correct torque that the strut bar needs to be put on. (correct me if im wrong) when i installed my springs with my friend (toyota mechanic) we just put it on really tight.
