Yes it will! I've lost like 2 libs from crank and 1.5 libs from flywheel or smthg like that...I dunno yet the cost but between 1000 and 2000$, I'll tell ya when I'll pay!

yea my engine is headed down that dark path and i'll need to rebuild some time in the semi close future....i'm thinking...bore, p&p, valves...camshaft regrind....flywheel shaved...i never heard of lightening the crank but not a bad idea......what are you doing in terms of rods??

if edo is speaking WHP 160, which i imagine he is considering "turbo and Emanage" then that is a big deal from a 7afe. and a realistic one at that. that car will rip, id expect it to be a little faster than a standard 20V swap. great job edo!
BTW, id suggest doing something to the rods b/c thats one of the bigger known weak spots on the 7A and with all that engine work + boost, id be willing to bet a rod or a bearing will be what breaks on ya (if infact something would). i only say this cuz you dont wanna rip that motor all back apart later on to replace em, might as well do it now while its all apart. -------------------- ![]() Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... they do make upgraded bearings I think, but the rod's would be one-off's. The only option I can think of is Cryo-treatment. That supposedly strengthens them...

Yea, good question. Another question is, with all this engine work and having 150-160, is that including CIA (or intake period) and exhaust, or is that just pure engine power?? And then if you were to turbo it, about how much estimated HP Gain would it have?? I'm on the market for a GT, but if it's cheaper for me to rebuild the 7a then I might just go ahead and do that, seeing as how I think I might only be able to sell my ST for like 2800 and would have to save up 2-3k for a GT anyway.

Everything is back together, but there was problems with the Clutch. So now engine is sitting quatly waiting for clutch to arive and Edo is out for vacations... he is on vacation in france. Dont know exactly then he gonna come back, but i know the price how much this thing costed him... it about 1600 euros, about 2000$ just for all the stuff done to his motor head and block and pistons and etc. it lots of money, but in the end i think this was worth it. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Hey what else can be done in the engine. Here is one question. One of the people earlier in the post said the rods would be a week spot. Were can I get custom rods made?
Also Did he do most of the work or did he have a mechanic do it?(This may be an idiotic question since their are pics of the engine apart ,but what the hell I might as well ask.) And What else can be done to the internals if anything? ( (Sorry for all the questions going to do similar setup and I am new and not to familiar with the internals.) |

If ya going with similar setup, make sure you get Forged Pistons, and forged RODS (especially RODS, cuz they are so week). After that, go with better bearing, balance and lighten crank, lighter flywheel, get the pulleys setup. As for the head, go with P&P, match all the ports, get more agresive cams (as i know the cams have lower profile on US 7A then euro 7A, cuz Edo just checked this cuz hes got a USDM 7A head.) And about the works, most of the work was done by the shop. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

you could just port out your regular intake manifold a lot. or go custom itbs with a little manifold type thing on top of them so you dont lose all your bottom end.

ITB's will kill the bottom end but will really open up the top. There will be no point in doing ITBs if you don't run them open... It requires a significant amount of tuning to get right, not to mention some ingenuity to have it simply work. You don't have to go with 4AG ITBs, although those would be the best but also the most difficult. Going with those will leave you haveing to custom make an intake adaptor to bolt them to the 7AFE head. The cheap and easy way, I'd get a spare 7AFE intake manifold and cut it up, then simply locate some Suzuki GSX (motorcycle) ITB's and clamp them on with couplings. I'll have an example below. From there, it's all about redoing the TPS, and possibly running a canister off of the vaccume lines so you can get an even MAP reading (depends on how sensitive Toyota MAP sensors are). After that... tune. Nice set-up BTW... much nicer than mine was back in the day. I don't know if you're planning anything with the cams... but those have gotta be upgraded in order to fully utilize all of those mods... ;] Here's a picture of a custom ITB set-up on our Shop's B16 Civic... ![]() -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... Anyway Edo, if i AINT sell my Celica, i will be boosting, i know for sure...
And the main problems that i left is Head gasket and the RODS. I only took a couple of pictures and I posted 2 of them here... I also have a video of the run, but it's too big to upload anywhere. As of a few days ago, we've since gone back to the stock manifold because of TPS problems... so that set-up might be shelved for now... but I can answer just about any questions related to a set-up like that on a Honda B16/18... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... That's a Blitz 3mm head gasket for a 4ag, which works on the ole 7a.it should drop your compression in wild and crazy ways.I know 2mm drops compression down to 8.7 to 1 on about a 9.5:1 engine, so 3mm would bring you way way down. |

that's because it's a Blitz gasket. the HKS one I am going to use costs about $100. hey, do you guys think a head gasket with a 82mm bore would work ok on a stock 7a bottom end? Seeing as how it's a HKS gasket I think it'd be fine.

I've just finished my time in Roma and I'm back in my city Milano definetly!!
World welcome the new air traffic controlle Edoardo!!! ![]() ![]() Anyway....I haven't dynoed it yet cuz I'm searching someone to tune emanage here and it's not easy ![]() Anyway I had a race with an MR2 year 93 3SGE engine, should be 150hp or so.... I beated her with no problems ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The engine runs really well and pulls strong from 1200 to the redline. It gained much between 1000 and 3500 and even more over 4000!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() I'm goin to switch to ITBs soon to get maximum gain, I'll let ya know guys! While waiting for that so long waited dyno I let u all know that I found finally the solution for intake: (thanks to Doggy and Coomer
![]() ![]() ![]() I'll use 4AGE ITBs as shown in pics with a custom made flange by Doggy.they comes with sensors and everything and will do the job I'll keep stock 4AGE velocity stacks and stock manifold with cover for the moment so I won't lose my bottom end torque...it will push strong at high RPMs...I'll have to set limiter to 7200 but not over to keep sane interiors...and with that I'll have a new cam profile...I'll keep ya udated! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Now I'm using stock with fuel press 40PSI at IDLE ant 60PSI WOT but with ITBs I'll use stock 4age or even turbo probe injectors I've at home cuz they're plug&play

Hey nik Whats up, well for starters no company actually stocks it, we would have to get them custom made, I would need a factory piston from you and then I would send it out, to my piston manufacturer and they will duplicate it, in whatever compression ration I wanted, the rods I think they should have on file, so those we shouldnt need a core, just let me know exactly what you want to do. We all know that the PAUTER makes them, but look at the price, it is ridiculas... And pauter rods are not that good at all if you look at the price and etc..

Anybody mentioned how rediculously similar 2zzge rods are to the ole 7a...? If I had the measurements of a 7a rod I could tell you just how close they are. As far as I can tell though, they have the same piston pin diameter, the same crank journal diameter, and the length is half a millimeter different. I have been told that the top of the rod has to be shaved a bit to fit 7a pistons though.
