So I began installing the nos last night. It's not really an easy task. I have my purge mounted and fuel and nitrous silenoids mounted as well. I tapped the fuel line and drilled through the fire wall to run my wires. Below the steering wheel, I popped out those lil rectangle dealies, by your knees. I put a toggle switch (my arming switch) in one of the spots, and a push button switch in the other (for the purge). The 2 button on my steering wheel will run horn and the actual spraying.

Here's where I'm welcoming a flame. I'm not running a WOT switch. I'm not too up the challege of wiring it up, so maybe down the road. Course, if you're careful, this is a big deal, at all.

Here's the sneaky parts. My parents know I bought the nos but said if i install it or go to the track again, I'd have to get my own insurance. Well wiping off some numbers from the track is easy. But hiding nos? There's a way.

I'm going to rip all the NOS stickers off the silnoids, and try to hide the steel braided cables, best I can. I'm not too worried, my rents are likely to never pop my hood. But the bottle. Well at first I was just going to leave it at a friends, and hook it up when i go to the track. But instead, I'm going to take an empty sub box, and put the bottle in there. I'll hack off the back of one of the speakers, so it'll look like I'm running subs. Course I'll have to secure the box down and find one big enough, but it can done. Another option is putting a small bottle, or a few small bottle where the spare tire goes. Or a few small guys in the sub box.

I'll keep you guys updated and when I finish, I promise pics. Hopefully this weekend it'll be done. All that's left is running the line from the bottle to the engine, mounting the bottle, and a few lose ends.

Good idea with the sub box. smile.gif

You should just make one though. Then the bottle can fit perfectly, and you can use a lighter material than MDF, as a MDF box large enough to house a nitrous bottle is going to be pretty heavy.

this is more of a general post

it is asking nothing technical or engine related

it is just about hiding something in the car.

BTW, let us all know how the nitrous turns out. Im curious as to how quick the 5SFE would feel with a 55-shot or more....but anyway thats not on topic.

I think you should sell the 5 or 10 lb. bottle and get some little 1lb. bottles like they put on motorcycles, and strap them underneath your seat or something. wink.gif

i got an idea.. get a propain tank use that.. that way you can say you are helping a friend with a barbeque.

even better get those 10 gallon heluim tanks, that way you can have 10 gallons of nos.. lol just kidding..

yea the sub idea works.. you can wrap the braided cables with some electrical tape.. and make it look like its part of the sub's wire..

several nitrous kits, including NOS brand, are 50 state legal.

some kid that goes to my school has these single use no2 tanks, there like the size of a 20oz. coke bottle, he uses i think a 30shot? but he got his kit off ebay or i'd tell you where you could get some of them tanks.

I don't think you'd even be able to feel a 30 shot. Kinda a waste of money

take it easy guys. this is in general discussion for several reasons:

1) its announcing something he did to his car. its not asking a question or contributing information to a specific topic.

2) it could falls under several categories. engine/performance for nos, and interior/audio for the sub box idea.

in conclusion. your wrong smile.gif

I'd buy your regular bottle if it's new. As for me, I'd buy one of the elongated botles and weld it into the rear fender well behind the plastic molding. there, it's easy to get to, and hard to find.

weld the brackets that is. the brackets release the bottles rather easily. Just open the little window on the plastic molding, unsnap the bottle, unscrew the line, and re-fil.
