Since the GT tranny is usable, but limits the amount of power then engine will output, im probably going to go with a GT4 tranny -
This tranny will work with my 94 GT, correct? Also how bout using the MR2 pressure plate and the 5sfe disc, work? -------------------- |

ok what you want to do IMO is get the front and rear cuts of a gt-4.
jarcoinc can help you with that. but ya the gt4 tranny will mount up in your gt celica |

You can't use the 3sgte awd transmission with your fwd car.

Why would an st205 tranny be any different...anyways, everyone who's actually done the swap have used the GT's tranny or the MR2 turbo's. Nobody has ever used the 3sgte's tranny even if they already had it. Locking out the rear transfer case is supposed to be very temporary anyways, though I've never actually heard of anyone doing it, and from my understanding, would lead to problems if one drove the car normally after locking it, and the only one who's even apparently done that was NEVERSTOP with his supposed awd conversion. Getting a rear clip at this stage is pointless, since nobody's actually done an AWD conversion and detailed the process. By fall, we'll definitely have at least 1 person (qatar11) who can actually describe it well enough should he be successful for others to do the same.

I read you fine, I said why would the st205 tranny be any different than a st185, in terms of its awd tranny (I know they're different, but they should be the same in the respect that they won't work in fwd, and that locking out the transfer case will lead to problems if driven like a normal car much less a sports car). And it's pointless to get a rear clip because he wouldn't know what the hell to do with it. qatar11's only done some minor conversions (like the hood) so far, I think he said he was saving most of the work for the summer when he would have more time for it. He isn't even certain he'll be able to do it, and he has an entire GT-4 to himself and much more knowledge than Neverstop, who admits that it's his family/friends who did the work (because they're in hydraulics).
You so glibly say "go with the awd conversion" as if it's as easy (heh, "easy") as an engine swap. The only other person who would even recommend that would be Neverstop, but he won't tell you how or show you, so that sort of weakens the argument doesn't it? When someone actually goes over the process thoroughly, and it ends up not being as crazy as we all think, I'll be the first to be ecstatic, but in the meantime, I don't think anyone should spend half a grand on something they'll have no clue how to do. Dude, the only people I trust are Charlie97L, qatar11, kuya1284, and west_minst. As far as I'm concerned, hardly anyone else even knows what they're talking about, and they're not qualified to judge the feasibility of the awd conversion. All these fools who say "DuDE U R 1337 NEVERSTOP I BELEVE U!!!!" will vote "yes". You should know this, and thus you obviously don't care about facts. You just want to keep fantasizing and act as if you have a clue about this. Elprototypes do engine swaps, and unless kuya1284 is attempting to convert to awd and they're doing it for him, I'm certain that's all they do. I don't even know why you mentioned it because it's not like the site even has anything to prove what you said.

What does what -I've- done or not done to my car have to do with anything? What kind of childish excuse is that to discredit what I'm saying? It's statements like that which make me think you are immature and just care about impressing people. You even made a thread about how you lied about body kits or whatnot, you claim to have a turbo setup, but are dead set on a 3sgte and never have mentioned anything about your current turbo set up, how it's running, boost levels, etc., so what else should I think? If el-prototypes have told you that they can do an awd conversion on a 6th gen, that's news to me, and if it's true, it's really heartening. But I take what you say with a grain of salt.
And it's kind of funny you say all those guys "agree with you" considering they've all posted numerous posts about the difficulty and near impossibility of an awd conversion, funnier still because qatar11 who's in the process won't even post here, and neither will kuya1284 who might just be doing a 3sgte swap, and thinks Neverstop if full of ****. Does "if you are talking about a 3sgte, you'd need to get a US GT tranny, b/c the 3sgte tranny is AWD, and you can't use it for a FWD application" sound familiar? That's the advice Charlie just gave a week ago to somebody. Just because they ultimately agree that "with money, everything's possible," it doesn't make the swap any easier unless you throw stupid amounts of money at experts to do a completely custom, experimental job. qatar11 isn't even sure he*can do it, and out of any of us celica owners, he likely has the most experience and knowledge, and knows best. In any case, he said he (and we) will all know by the time fall comes around. supersprynt asked if he could use the gt-four awd tranny, and from what Charlie said, you can't. Not and actually drive the car normally. It's not like I'm saying I figured it out on my own, I'm just taking Charlie's word for it. But here you are telling him to go buy a rear clip and magically do an awd conversion. It's not as easy as that, and if it was, everybody who's already done the 3sgte swap would have done that or at least learned enough about it to advise others how to do it. |

Who cares if the AWD conversion is possible or not. If you wanna prove it is, then save up and do it. If not, then shut your hole and quit all the drama. |

WHOA GUYS HEY CALM DOWN DIDNT MEAN TO START A BRAWL!
I JUST AM WORRIED WHEN I PUT THE 3SGTE IN THAT MY GT TRANNY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE ADDED POWER. I ASKED A BUNCH OF PEOPLE AROUND THE COUNTRY ABOUT THIS AND WHAT I WANTED TO KNO, IS CAN I USE THE AWD TRANNY FOR THE FWD ST205. WHAT I'VE GOTTEN IS NO, UNLESS U CONVERT OR DO OTHER MODS RUNNING THE HIGHER RISK OF SCREWING UP MY PRIZED POSSESSION. SO IM NOT GOING TO DO THAT. I HAVENT STARTED THE SWAP YET, I DONT EVEN HAVE AN ENGINE SINCE I CANT FIND ONE REASONABLY PRICED WITH SENSORS AND THE ECU. I ALSO NEED TO KNO WHAT KINDA CLUTCH I GOTTA USE. AS FAR AS I KNO, AN MR2 PRESSURE PLATE WITH THE 5SFE DISC WILL WORK - IF THIS DOESNT let me kno. I GOT A GREDDY EXHAUST WITH DUAL FOCUZ MUFFLERS SO IM NOT WORRIED ABOUT THE HI-FLO AND I NEED A FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER. SO HERES THE #1 PRIORITY - "I NEED AN 3SGTE ENGINE" AS LONG AS THE GT TRANNY WILL HOLD UP - THEN IM NOT GOING TO WORRY ABOUT IT. -------------------- |
