Because realistically money isn't an issue, right? And cutting your car up and sacrificing its structural integrity in an experimental conversion has no possible pitfalls? Yeah I wonder what I would do

if money wasn't an issue, and you were doing this to a 2nd "project" car, why would you not go for it? it's totally worth it. especially w/ the power of the 3sgte, the FWD drivetrain is completely worthless w/ the amount of power that engine will potentially put out. w/ AWD you will get all the traction and power delivery you need. sure there is a little extra weight, but, the amount of grip you gain is unthinkably worth-while, esp. at the higher HP range. no contest. AWD. -John- -------------------- |

well I definitely would, it would be a dream come true to have an awd (6th gen) celica. My next car, whatever it ends up being, will not be FWD. I would want it to be a celica (preferably my celica) but unless I get 20 grand out of nowhere, I don't see that happening... and there's no guarantee that the car will hold up under pressure. Edit: btw, that "view results" link made me vote FWD even though it said "null vote" This post has been edited by Mage: Mar 2, 2003 - 6:43 PM |

Ok guys, nothing is better than having turbo AND AWD. I am a former dsm owner and still current enthusiast, and I miss AWD with every breath in my body. So if money was not an issue, hands down, I would give my left testicle for it... maybe.

Do you mean the RB26DETT? Anyways, neither of those engines are going to fit in a Celica without spending tens of thousands of dollars, plus why do either swap when you could have a more powerful, lighter, 3S-GTE? Anyways, I voted all wheel drive. If money is no object, there's no reason not to go for it. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

y put a 2jz engine into a celica when its been proven the 3sgte is a MUCH MUCH more versitile, performance oriented, reliable, AND lightweight engine...
why the hell would Top Secret swap out the 2jz for a 3sgtte AND a R34 skyline RB26DETT in consectutive years? the 3sgte is obviously toyotas flagship performance engine... the 2jz isnt a bad engine at all by any means either. ANYWAYS: AWD hands down -------------------- ![]() Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... Yeah, that's the engine in the Silvia Spec R I believe, and the base Silvias have the SR20DE, same engine but with higher compression and no turbo obviously.
And AWD is SOOOO much fun to drive, however I dont have many complaints about my FWD. |

I guess I am the only one that will back up my opion I am for FWD, basically because it takes more power to turn four wheels than it does to turn 2, also you loose like 10% more power in the driveshaft of AWD cars so this is just my opinion. Feel free to crush it now.

Im going to point out this obvious little fact, seeing as i haven't seen anyone else do so before. 2JZ-GTE = 6cyl 3lt twin seq. turbo = 320 HP 3S-GTE = 4cyl 2lt single turbo = 185-240 HP (ST165-ST205) Duh, the 2jz stock is a bigger more powerful engine!!! (by 80-115 HP) - In some circumstances, It is a better option to install an already powerful engine than to spend thousands getting the 3s upto the same level. Without counting the extra costs for swapping in the big 2jz, if both engines had the same amount of money spent on them, the 2jz will come out more powerful. Plus believe it or not, some people like RWD cars! Not that I want to do this - I dream of getting a japanese GT-4 (can and have been imported to Aus!!). |
