Just when my car was about to the point where I could sell it, I came out to find my window broken out, all my CDs gone, and my $3,000 company laptop gone. frown.gif

I was only home for 20 minutes or so too. I got out of class, came home to grab some files from my computer, armed the car, came back outside to the car 20 minutes later, unlocked it only to hear the alarm chirp four times instead of twice, indicating the alarm went off. So I walked over to the other side of the car, found a busted window, no CDs, and no laptop. I must've not heard the alarm because I was up at the house(150 feet or so away), and I was in my basement with my music blasting.

So now it's gonna be another couple hundred dollars that I don't have to get this fixed. Plus insurance won't cover anything(because my parents don't care what happens to me.) I'm out 70 CDs or so, and I have no more company laptop. Who knows how they'll react to that at work. frown.gif

Sorry to hear that Coomer, but at least they didn't steal the car itself!
I guess the car alarm was also useless because I think you live in a more rural area? So I guess no one was around to hear or see what happened...

You seem pretty resilliant, I'm sure you'll get through this just fine, and on the bright side, you can just download all the cd's that were stolen smile.gif

Edit- I see the 6gc.net decal on that window, maybe the guy that did this will come on the site in the near future? Just something to be weary of I guess..

Move to Alabama. the climate is better and there are nice people.

Good luck man.

You need to make new friends. This seems like an inside job. How would someone know you have a laptop and 70 CDs in your car ? How would they know if you were in the house you wouldn't here your alarm ? One of your so-called friends is behind this...

that is my .02

Thanks for the support. Yeah, I need to move out of town. I can't stand it here!

Mike, yeah, it probably was fairly useless. No-one would've been able to hear it probably except maybe my close-ish neighbors, but they weren't home. It probably stopped the theives from stealing my cd player, amps, and sub though. They probably just grabbed what they could get quickly and ran. frown.gif

Consynx, I have no idea who would do this. I don't have any enemies here, I'm pretty mellow and nice to everyone, and I try to stay away from people who cause trouble and stuff. It may be the same people who broke into my garage, but I dunno.

Natalie, yeah, I had that CD case that holds 42 CDs, but the last three or four pages were doubled up so there were probably 65 or so CDs in it. frown.gif

It just sucks...I live in the nice part of town too.

And I doubt it's someone who knows me well. Everyone who knows me well knows that my car is only parked outside of my house if I'm gonna be inside for just a couple minutes. Otherwise I put it in the garage and lock the garage. And I put the laptop in the car this morning, because I was going to take it to work today. So I dunno...all I know is that it's gonna cost me a bunch more money that I don't have and my parents already are mad at me for it. frown.gif

Oh man, this situation is going to get really ugly. frown.gif

It was a really nice laptop, so they want it back, so MARQ(the company I work for) is tellling me that I need to file an insurance claim to get money to pay for the laptop.

But I guarantee that that idea won't fly with my parents, and they'll probably want me to just pay for the laptop out of my own pocket. And I can't afford to pay for this $3,000 laptop myself. That's nearly half the price that I'm selling the car for. frown.gif

So yeah, it's gonna be a nightmare once I go home tonight...I'll probably get screamed at by my mom...probably get accused of being a bad son and get accused of being on drugs again...the whole works. frown.gif

No, I argue back with my mom, then she'll end up eventually flipping out and storming out of the house and slamming doors and stuff. Then after that come the accusations of me being on drugs. frown.gif

Seriously, show them one of those "My Antidrug" commercials & then explain to then how they WANT YOU ON DRUGS if they want you to stop working on your car cause that's what their basically asking for. I don't see how parents cant see that children never do bad things on their own but its cause of parents restricting them to do things that causes them to lash out by doing negative things...I speak from "alot" of experience.

& why do they keep on with this drug business, have they taken drugs themselfs or seen your friends do it cause they stay on that, ask them if taking drugs would hush them up on the whole topic cause I'd be out doing crack or something if I was told I do drugs so often...

Yeah, seriously. Everyone I know knows I could never be into drugs because I'd rather spend my money and time on my car. Everyone except my parents. rolleyes.gif

I always tell my parents that instead of doing drugs like most of the people in Yakima, I work on my cars and actually do something with my life. Instead of drinking at parties, I hang out in parking lots talking with car people. Instead of buying cocaine downtown, I'm buying car parts on eBay. Instead of growing weed in my basement, I'm building parts for my car in my basement. But they just don't understand. Neither do the cops in Yakima.

I've written essays and papers and even gave a speech about my views on Yakima and its drug problems and police problems, but it gets me nowhere.

At least I feel better knowing myself that I'm not on drugs and knowing that I'm going somewhere. And I'm beginning to not care about what my parents have to say anymore.

Well sorry to hear man, it's like I know if you do one drastically bad thing, it'll open your parents eyes but who knows what that can be, it worked for me...I had fun doing it too. lol tongue.gif

Just keep throwing out the same arguement about no drugs all cars & you might get lucky, or else just move out (or bluff) if you think they'll try to stop you.

Its a hard call weather to report it or not, I probley would just because the value of everything, but then your parents might want you togo on your own insurence, and I know that would be out the ass for you.

hope you the best of luck.

sucks about the theft.....but dood, you never leave anything in pain view inside of your car! i know if i left a laptop in pain view, it be a matter of time before it gets stolen.

if i were you i would call the cops and report the theft, then call the insurance company and report the damge and stolen laptop. tell you job you reported the theft. they cant really make u pay for the laptop out of your own pocket. think of it this way, if you are a bus driver and you wreck the company bus, you dont pay for it on your own. you job should have some type of insurance on these things.

o yeah coomer, my cracked out friend has a solution to your problem.

buy like 50 feet of speaker wire
connect the positive to the negative of the battery
and the negative to the distributor output
run it back to the fuel tank, and put it down the fuel line
start the engine.. as soon as the dist. turns on (5 mins tops)
KABOOM
followed by massive fireballs

that way noone can still your ride man!

I'm sorry man. I really wish the best for you and I hope that everything works out for you. Don't let your parents get you down either. Do you pay your own insurance? If so how can your parents tell you wether or not to make a claim? If you find them why don't you tell us what you would like to do to them, it might make you feel better... like, if it were me, I'd tie them face down in a sticker patch and slice their anus' with ravor blades while john kerry chewed on their testicles and poked their gooch with an ice pic... but that's just a few ideas that came to me while listening to Bloodhound Gang's A Lap Dance is so Much Better When the Stripper is Crying.

Man that sucks Coomer, one time at my house somebody try to steal my bothers civic but he heard them and went outside and started chasing them. He found out that they were able to steal his stereo and system. But there were more than one person stealing the car and the rest of them went back to the house and took laptop, sivilia headlight, steering wheel and dvd player. mad.gif

Like four months later we found out who did it. One by one we were able to get are stuff back. We had a little friend to make them give us are s*** back wink.gif . They learnd not to mess with us.
I hope you get your laptop back. Good Luck.

Really sorry to hear that, its sad what some people will do.

I would stay clear of insurance froud, there are some serious penalties if you get cought.

you should get a 2way pager alarm, with a long range pager. There worth evey sent. You could also get a 3000 watt tweeter and hook a nice amp to it to replace the alarm siren, making it hearable for miles, and just enough to subdo a perpatrader

Jezz parents, mine get pritty bad too some times, but they usualy turn around. Sorry to hear that yours are to stubburn to see your potential.

We sould all throw a celica car wash/ car show, to help you out paying for a new window, etc. I would be happy to chip in a weekend.

Im so sorry to hear about your car Coomer. Its so sad since i think you have one of the nicest celis on this site, and too see others destroy and deface such a great car and all the hard work and effort that it represents is just heartbreaking. Out of all of us on this site, you deserve these car problems the least!

And if you need any help: financial wise, have an idea how to raise money, anything, just remember that you have a world-wide 6th gen celica community ready and willing to help you anyway that we can. Youd done so much for us with this site, i doubt anyone would hesitate to help you out and give back in their own way.

wow..wow...wow...i say you take everything out of car that has value sell it....then go to a cliff....pour ton of gas on the car and say it was stolen....
you wont have to worry about getting it fix...insurace pays you full cash...they just claim you had good stuff in there and bammm chingy money.....my uncle car got broken into like that...they stole his amp/subs/an exhaust he had there...he told the cop it was wroth 400 bucks when really it was like 100 ahaha soo insurace company paid up.....

i'm sure he'll get loads of cash for his 94 ST Celica.

aside from that - this sucks Chris. You do need to move. If you are friends with Natalie, then why dont you get a close apartment to her if she's alright with that. Sometimes you need to clean off the slate. Start over Chris.

good luck with all, and if you need help I'm more than willing

Move to Ohio. It's all good here. Lots of corn. Not a very big car scene though. On second thought, don't move to Ohio. Lots of corn.

Just to update you guys, I talked with my parents, and they said that the stuff inside the car falls under homeowner's insurance, and they won't file a claim, so I gotta see if work is really gonna charge me for that laptop or if they have insurance on it or what. If they're gonna charge me, maybe I'll quit my job and find another one elsewhere in town doing computer stuff until I can move once I finish this year of school. I'm sick of it anyway.

This just makes me hate thieves even worse... they break a window and steal over $3,000 in crap, resulting in you having to replace the window, fight with your parents, quit your job, and move out of your house. mad.gif

Well, I really doubt that the company I work for will make me pay for it myself. I have REALLY good job security and I don't think they'd want to lose me over a couple thousand dollars. smile.gif

i still say ur parents are 100% assholes, sorry...they sound kinda like mine...without feelings though.

did they come to this conclusion after stating the fact about them probably not going to charge you, or were they stubborn and in that state of mine from Time=0

They were in that state of mind from the second I told them. Sometimes I really feel like they don't love me as much as my other brothers, but whatever...hopefully in a year I'll be all moved out.

If you pay for your own car insurance and have fire & theft (or whatever it's called over there) I'm pretty sure you can claim stolen goods on that.

My company covers all of our laptops under it's general insurance policy.. as well as company mobile phones, cars etc etc. They cannot make you pay for it unless they have reason to believe you stole it... then they have to go through the legal process and most likely fire you.

GL man.

Your parents are right though, it falls under homeowners insurance meaning that you should have a much lower co-pay to get the insurence money, I would give your insurance a call, and just get some basic info about it. Maybe you can get enough facks about it to convinse your parents.

Sorry to say it, but your parents won't file a claim because either they hired somebody to do you like that or they did it themselves. It's a sick world we live in. rolleyes.gif
