What's a good way to clean wheels of brake dust? I was thinking sandpaper could work well, but I don't know...In your experience, what worked well? Also, is there anything I can do so that brake dust won't settle on the wheels as much in the future cause right now the wheels are really old and there is a really big build-up on the wheels' lip. Thanks

Is it healthy for wheel finish though?

no, but as long as its not on there to long it wont do much to any damage.. If any thing, I would say spend a day, pull them off, take some sand paper, and a brillo pad, sand them down, then re-spray them, and then do a clear coat ... then you have nice shinny clean rims...

meguires rim/wheel cleaner powers through brake dust. then use an abrasive rubbing compound and go to town.

I tried again today with Fantastik and a hard sponge and the darker dust came off. That stuff is pretty good. There is still some left on the wheels but it's not as bad as before. A good hard brush and a special wheel cleaner should do the trick.
