Wow... that sucks. Unless you got a 3SGTE... those thieves just wasted a crap load of time/work... Maybe it's time for a swap... ;]

This is such BS. You walked out and didn't notice your hood was gone ? BS all the way. If you said the engine was in a garage and it was broken into it would be a bit more believable...

Jezz, your saying that someone spent a night in pitch black conditions to jack a 5s. That is just a horrible thing, its kinda funny though.

I'm thinking BS on this. you have to be really out of it not to realize your motor and hood is gone. Plus the noise that taking an engine out would wake someone up.

BS

its not like removing an engine is like popping out a battery out of a flashlight and replacing it

you mean to tell me....someone(s) cracked open your hood, unplugged every hose/wire/electronic component, removed all bolts and nuts, dropped the transmission out, and used an engine lift (without removing the hood no less) to wheel your engine out of the bay and down the street....all within a night without anyone hearing/seeing this??

and they call me a crackhead rolleyes.gif

yeah you could do it in a shop. Getting one of our engines out especially in a GT is a hard thing to do. And like everyone was saying I think that this is BS. You can't just jack an engine in the middle of the night without someone seeing something. Unless you live near a bunch of people that don't give a crap about what goes on in there neighborhood, and you were stoned/drunk off your ass. How could you not notice something wrong there? Simply amazing if this is true but I call BS.

are your parents loaded?

what i get out of this is a good plan without complete logic.
Parents are loaded, you want 3S w/ top-mount of C-One hood
you get sum ppl to take engine and hood, show parents and want to claim it or w/e

I dont understand why somone would do it to a toyota. I know my Dad knew a few guys that would go into his restruant that would steal engines. It was in B-more. Mostly corvette engines though, or bmws/ benz's .. The would rip the hood off, one guy would un bolt everything or cut it.. then the three/four guys would rap chains around it and then pull it out and throw it into the van witch would be right next to the car. Dont know how long or what was involved, but they did it. The also offerd to give my dad a new vette engine for a tab at the bar.. lol

24 hour parts service, my stepdad use to drive around with a 10 foot flat bed trailer. Then in his truck he had air compressor and full line of tools, and would take orders durning the day and get parts at night with his buddies. Pretty F'd up if ya ask me, but he did it :/

BS Flag

Remanu'd 5S costs 400 bucks if that

And anyone would notice that the engine was out. Your a brand new member probably comming from another board to make a story and see if people believe. Even if you have pictures, chances are you are doing a swap. Story is BS. You drive a 3000 dollar car pal.

as much as i dont belive the story, i can understand not realizing the motor was gone, I get up at 6am for school and i'm practicly dead (i stay up to late) but i would probibly not notice if my motor was gone till tryed starting it. if the hood was still on, and did not have any major damage. I doubt this story is real but if it is I would love to congragulate they guys that did that, for a great job of being fast, and quiet, but most of all for there down right stupidity, and worthless effort.

I've heard of things like this happening in fresno, CA (the worse car theft city in america). They usually have a truck and tow it to their garage, strip all the parts they can, then put it back where it was... but ive only heard of them taking things like exhaust, sunroofs, seats, hoods etc... never an actual ENGINE.

There's lots of people around Yakima that steal cars to take the engines(and other stuff) out of them, but those are typically Hondas with the sought-after B18C1/5s and B16As and stuff like that. But it happens a lot. frown.gif

A couple of my friends were tempted to buy dirt-cheap stolen motors for their Hondas(and one was gonna pay another guy $500 to steal a SRT-4 for the engine for his Neon), but I convinced them otherwise.
