New car shopping, Dad wants a new ride Options

So today my dad starts asking me all these questions about new near-luxury cars... After discussing some of the nice ones out there (G35, TL mostly) he asks if I wanna go look at some with him. So the first place we go is Acura, because he wanted to go, and we look at a TL. My dad is sorta impressed, but nothing fantastic really... So after that we decided to look at a G35. right away he loved the coupe's lines, diddent mind the sedan, talks to the salesman about the car, everything going good... then he tries to fit into it... needless to say my dad is 6'4" and the coupe was WAY too small. So he goes to sit in a sedan, same problem, no headroom... kinda dissappointed by this, and by the finnish of materials in both the TL and G35 he asks what cars have really nice interiors. So I tell him Lexus have really nice interiors, Benz's too. So he starts asking me about Lexus' and stuff, so he decides to go look at an IS and an ES. We looked at both, and he really liked the ES and also the IS, but he thought it was mabey a bit too small (bigger than the G though). So after thinking about it he drove an ES, and really really liked it, except it wasnt sporty at all... So now he's kinda pissed off because there isnt realy anything out there that he likes, except that he said next weekend he will drive an IS for sure. What else do you guys think he should drive before he makes a decision??? (take note my dad will not by anything domestic, and he does not like BMW's)... I cant think of anything else out there really?

Before even reading what you wrote above I was thinking G35 coupe or Nissan 350z. Me and my dad have been discussing this aswell and we think those are two prime choices for his next car, he drives an 03 Avalon right now and isn't terribly impressed, basically he wants something more sporty, with a manual gear box

A few other options, Audi s4 or a4, Maxima, saab's are always nice, I can't think of anything else.

S4 is alot different and alot more expensive than the A4. He should maybe look back into Lexus GS but wait until the new one is released (pic below).


Maybe look into the Murano or FX35 FX45, they are SUV's but sporty ones.
Acura just released the new RL - very nice looking, looks bigger than the TL, surprised that wasnt shown to him.

is he 4-dr friendly only or 2-dr as well?
The next GS to come out will have an available AWD format.

i can't believe he didn't try the WRX
once he heads that engine prr, he might be sold
and they redesigned the interior for 05 because of some "cheap" complaints.

the ES is definately my least favorite lexus, too bad he's so tall
the TL should really be a nice car...
Mazda RX8 is supposed to have great space, but then again it's RWD...not sure how seasonal he wants the car to be
