Actually, she's cool about my problems. The only thing she said was "think of all the shoes I could buy with that sort of money".

Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to know how much. Clutch and flywheel next.

Decat going on on Thursday.
Suspension rebuild this weekend.
I'm going to have to move insurance companies as well.

We continue.

In bucks.

Once fitted and sorted out. Somewhere in excess of two and a half big ones. Probably nearer three to be honest.

Springs and struts....seems like a grand at most is suting. Then some camber junk and downpipe would maybe be up to $700. What brands are these parts, and why so expensive?

When it's superstrut suspension for a sixty thousand dollar car with TRD other bits, lots and lots.

The lower suspension arms are five hundred bucks alone. Each. The camber control joints another 100 or so. 80 bucks for the top mounts (and you need four of them), and 3-400 hundred for each of the front shocks.

The TRD springs were only about 400 bucks. Which I thought was reasonable.

You need to remember that this is a very rare car, with very trick suspension. It's corrispondingly expensive.

Most the bits were shipped from Japan, and I live in the rip-off capital of the world.

Right now, I don't care.

There is that too.

Now I have TRD (suspension), Blitz (exhaust, oil filter and turbo timer) and HKS (induction) bits on the car.

Have a HKS flywheel and stage 2 organic clutch lined up for the new year.

Nice upgrades Mr. E. You will have to report back on performance of the suspension upgrades.

On a slightly off-topic note, I just have to say your sig on celica.net is priceless. My conversations with my wife like that have convinced her that I need therapy. Oh well, it wouldn't be a hobby if you didn't think about it, right?

You should get the TRD Shock set as well.

Stock Shocks with TRD Springs would still be "too soft" for high speed driving and cornering.

What clutch + flywheel are you going for??

Stock shocks and TRD springs work just fine mate. The Four is pretty damn hard anyway as stock. The springs are a 25mm drop, and progressivly wound.

TRD shocks are adjustable and well over 500 bucks each. And possibly too hard for road use. Great for the track, but might compromise cross country pace.

Harder is not always better. An awful lot of people seem to forget that sometimes.

There's a lot more to making a car handle than no ride hight and rock hard shocks.

I am actually using the TRD Shocks + Spring Set. They are everyday drivable.
I have also use Stock + TRD Spring before.... honestly the stiffness is not that much different(no rock hard feeling), but the grip is whoaaaa.... My car really stick to the road.

There are 2 TRD shock models for our GT-4. There is one for Street Use and the other for Racing. My friend uses the Racing Spec TRD Shocks.... and YES!!!! It is exactly like you've said. My friend had a hard time driving his celica everyday...

Cheers....

TRD Coilovers are fab for the track. A bit to racey for road use.
Adjustables are cool, but mega money. Not worth it IMHO.

Nothing wrong with the stock suspension on a ST205. Very advanced and very stiff.

Stock shocks with TRD springs on a Faff are fine.

A friend found the back end a bit soft, so I've gone for KYBs on the back. 20 uprated, so should be a little stiffer.

There's also a Whiteline adjustable rear anti roll bar to further resist understeer.

Is it possible for you to post a few pics of your GT-4 for us to see??

From what I see, you are a careful selector of what you are going to install to your GT-4.

I guessed your GT-4 would look awesome as well.

Pics.... please.. please.... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Lar - There's a web link in my profile with a few half decent pics.

Magic - Lars green ones are adjustable. Big big money, and very good indeed.

Amy - I've actually just sent this mail to my girl (mid discussion)

Errr.

Oh you're going to hate me.

At a guess, with the rear adjustable ARB and fitting.....

I think in reality, between Rhi and I, I could justify buying 66 pairs of shoes!
actually if I spent that kind of money on shoes, I don't think I'd tell anyone- I would opt for the girlie thing of betting you didn't notice that I was wearing new shoes, and if you did having a go at you for not noticing them earlier as I'd had them months/years (honest)!!!!!
