Does anyone spend most their time slacking off at work? I work four hours a day during the school year, and most days I spend 10-15 minutes doing actual work for the company I work for.

Some days I work a lot. Like today...it's deadline day for the project I've had assigned to me for the last month or so. I worked on it for about an hour yesterday, and close to two hours today, and it'll probably take me another hour to finish it and then show some people how to use it. So I've maybe put in 6 hours of work into it. The company thinks it takes me weeks to do this stuff though(and they think weeks are fast...they still are very happy with me.)

So I spend the majority of my day in my office browsing 6GC, Celica.net, 4GCelica.net, ToyMods, TwinCam.org, Club4AG, Honda-Tech.com, NWStreetRacing, eBay, Craig's List, etc. I keep a small 640x300 pixel browser window open for browsing these sites, and always have open actual work in the background that I switch to when someone comes into my office, so it always looks like I'm working. tongue.gif

I seriously actually work for about 10-15% of the time that I'm paid to be here for. Anyone else slack off this much?

OMG!! thats so funny because im doing that right now too! Everyday (ok most days) i go into the lab and since im the only grad student on the project im in there by myslef. Im suppose to work 20 works a week, an average of 4 hours a day. I work about 2 hours a day at most. The rest of the time i surf the web, constantly checking this site, ebay, craigslist, xangas, anything else. I feel that im not getting things done because its been almost two months and i still havent gotten the wind tunnel running. I think im going to get fired, but they jsut renewed my RA contract, so i guess they think im doing alright.

I'm always slacking off, wether it be school or work. When i was doing construction work, my dad left me to do some work while he took off to look at other customers. as soon as he took off i decided to relax in a room where we had put all the carpet we pulled out, i ended up falling asleep for about and hour and a half. I then woke up worked for about 30 mins. then it was time for lunch biggrin.gif . When lunch was over i had to work my butt off since my dad had called and told me he was coming back early, frown.gif i got into some trouble, but it sure was not the last time that happened, it got worse when we hired an extra helper.

Nah, I don't wanna get fired. Plus, they won't fire me...I have excellent job security because I develop very complex web/intranet applications in programming languages that my bosses don't even know.

Plus, they think I work super hard and they think I do good work. Just a few minutes ago I was showing the project I've been "working on" for a month to someone(it didn't take me long at all to finish actually...I guess I'm used to telling people it takes me longer to do stuff than it does), and the CEO walked in and saw it and was very impressed. He smiled and said "Christian mah boy, I dunno what we'd do without you."

So I don't think I'll be getting fired any time soon...I also recently completed some software that the company is now implementing in their customers' plants for a measly charge of $6,000+ per company, so they're still making good money off me, even if I do hardly work at all. smile.gif

Well, I'm sure my immediate bosses wouldn't care...they slack off almost as much as me...one of my bosses was working on a cover for his band's CD today. biggrin.gif

But I don't think they ever come to the site anyway. Sometimes I mention it, but I don't think they're ever here. smile.gif

They loved me.. and then i got promoted to do less work.. biggrin.gif Man I miss that job

yes, you would be suprised how much of this so called productive economy is run off of gross inefficiencies, people working hardly/hardly working. I work on and develop crappy applications, no vision, idiotic simplistic requiring a few hours of work for the whole week, I blame this on management. They are lazy so everyone is lazy. then the marketing folk, or the sales team does their road show and idiots buy this lame product for crap loads of money.

I wish I could work in a cool company like google, or some cutting edge game development studio.

I do admit I get busy at times, but then when im blocked from doing anything constructive i get depressed and waste time the whole day, surfing the web and buying books ill never read of amazon.

No slacking at work for me, I have to keep track of every hour in order to bill it to clients. Taxes all day then classes for the afternoon and into the evening. Unless I skip class (like today).

If I still had my old job I'd take the cake, I worked one full day & then I could of done anything, I just sat around & chatted online & left after 2hrs of being there & stopped showing up for a few & got paid when I went back a week & a half later & then I just quit cause I disliked all the freedom, thinking I should of stayed there now that I think about it.
