I heard that probability for dying in a plane crash is low compared to dying in a car accident.

considering I've been traveling in planes since I was like 2 months old it doesn't really bother me. then again when they lose altitude really quickly it can get a bit scary

Chance of dying in an airplane accident: 1 in 354,319

i think you should be more afraid of cancer than dying in a plane

I have never been afraid of airplanes and since I work for an airline now I couldn't afford being afraid to fly.

planes never bothered me one bit... and then i got my pilots license and became and aerospace engineer. In someways its reassuring because i know whats going on and all the redudant systems and performance saftey numbers and such. But also, every time i get on one i run through everything that can go wrong. Basically if you survive the take off, your 70% in the clear. Thats when the engines and structure are at their greatest stress and you are at your highest risk of low level stalling, in which there is no time to recover before you crash into the ground.

I think of all the guys i went to school with and think they are out there now designing planes... its scary. If you are ever on an aircraft/spacecraft that i designed... get off!!

I did an inturn ship with boeing right after high school, it was cool to see all the time and hard work going into those machines, from the conception to the build, its rare for something to go wrong, and when it does its usualy controled and does not harm

You know that all planes are designed to be able to fly with only one motor running.
