ricey. that is about the most annoying word in the history of the world. it's like calling someone gay... put some actual thought into it, instead of arbitrarily throwing around a word you've become all too comfortable with..

what makes it (or any other exhaust) "ricey", just out of morbid curiousity.

like i don't like no mufflered/only exhaust tipped..and it's obnoxiously loud, backfires, high pitched bumblebee sounding raspy something caught in it's throat kinda sounding exhaust...

Ricey = Generic, the same damn sound that comes out of every "rice mobile" i.e. Civics that I see everywhere. When I can here how badly your shift just went because your exhaust is so loud I can here it off of the freeway it becomes ricey. You can make your car sound nice by getting a regular muffler that has an actual deep sound that isn't noticable at freakin idle. My stock exhaust to me is what a car should sound like. That sound is the sound of crap to me and I don't like it. Thats all I was saying and if you don't like it then whatever. I have a right to say what I think.

edit: I didn't mean to affend anyone but I guess thats the way it came out. Its your car do what you will don't let what anyone says affect what you do to the car. If you don't like what I say don't read it.

Do you think mine is ricey? Because it's really loud; Not so much in those recorded sounds, but it's loud to the point where I can't talk on a cellphone on the freeway. I want to get something that's just as quiet as stock but without the power restrictions of a stock exhaust system. Well, I would want to, if I were keeping the car.

Loud doesn't necessarily mean that it is ricey, I may have implied that in the above post which I didn't mean to but I can here a certain tone in the "mufflers" that ricers use which is that vibrating, farting sound. My friends prelude has a straight through muffler that is VERY loud but it sounds nice and deep the way that a car SHOULD sound. Another of my friends has an MKIII turbo supra with 3" exhaust all the way down and a high flow magnaflow muffler on the end. That thing sounds like a monster and I love to drive it. It all just depends on if there is a farting sound like the typical fart cans which it sounds to me Mynzeyes bought. Well, to me anyways. Others may have a different opinion on that but thats how I feel about them.

And Mynzeyes I just listened to it a couple more times and came to the conclusion that it is a fairly good sound but that stupid vibrating noise when you come off of the throttle is just disguisting to me that is the sound of rice (to me).

Coomer, your exhaust sounds really good from inside of the car but when you are driving away it had a little rice twang to it, again this is just my opinion. Over all both of your exhausts sound good its just that stupid fart-can-ish sound that ruins the whole thing.

6GGT, no worries man...nothing wrong with painting wheels or having a stock car. I painted the wheels on my stock '88 Celica.

95gts, It's 2.5" piping from the factory header to a big resonator to 2.5" piping to a OBX muffler. I should've gone 2.25" and I should at least add another resonator or something to quiet it down a bit. Thanks for the comment though.

I have an HKS setup (well the hi power muffler and custom 3" piping thats kinda half mandrel and half crush) and I think my exhaust is pretty nice. I personally dont think its loud, well atleast when im driving. But everyone says my exhaust is crazy loud. I went through a parking garage the other day and set off seriously over 20 alarms, so I think they are right.

Another thing that effects exhaust sound is, obviously, engine type. John is running a 100hp 7a-fe, commer a 160hp 4a-ge with vvt, and I have a 225hp 3s-gte. Turbo always makes exhaust note much deeper.

I'll try to get a sound clip on my comp to share, coomer what did you use to get your sound clips?

I used my old E-Machines laptop. It was fully charged, so I got to record for about 15 minutes before the battery died completely.

Please don't pass judgement on people that you know nothing about. My car being mostly stock implys nothing on my mechanic abilities nor knowledge. So...please think before you speak. Mynzeyes asked for my opinion and I gave it. Thats all it was.

And Coomer, I agree with Playr if you add another resonator it would probably sound amazing. Good luck.

the reason your first video may have sounded "ricey" if that (i thought it was fine) was because you had just started your car and it was still cold....put the camera by the exhaust but with your car already warmed up and you will get a different sound more like the later video's u posted. Mynzeyes awesome job the car sounds great IMO and same for you Chris

i think both of your muffler sounds great. coomer's muffler's nice and deep, Mynzeyes muffler's nice too but alittle distorted. i think my muffler sounds rice. i got one of those ebay jump off and it sucks. i've just ordered a Tanabe medalion racing muffler and it'll be here next week. hope it sounds alot better then.

jvc gr-dx95u actually i dont need a right blinker i just need front ones that is all, i havent bought the 5ht gen blinkers that fit in my bumper yet, so it is sending everything to the back and making them faster. lol thanks tho.
