Does anyone feel like most the posts here are just horrible? Granted, it's always very active and helpful in the performence sections. But all you see in off topic, is the most useless crap in the world. Sober posts, pic of dog/girlfriend/xmas tree/car/prostate exam. Jesus, it numb the mind. And in general, all you see is, "I felt the need to let everyone know i painted my calipers!" This post is followed by about 30 other posts saying, "dope!" "That's awesome!" "M00t!!!" "How do i paint my calipers?"

So do you think no-one should ever show any progress on their car? Whether they built a 7A-GTE or just painted their wheels? You can't just say there's a line where a modification becomes post-worthy. If you see a thread titled "Check it out! I painted my calipers" there's no reason why you have to click on it.

I agree that a lot of the off-topic posts are useless, but I just ignore those most of the time.

Well Slowcelica, thats why they call it Off-Topic. Your not going to find anything about the celica section in the off-topic. Theres just alot of well....off-topic stuff.
I would suggest to ignore it if it offends you, and if you want car stuff, theres plenty of good car info in the other sections.

That is the worst example you could have ever used, just because its a "smal" mod does not mean that its pointless and not worth sharing.

Not everyone can build a 7A-GTE or even do an oil change, does that mean they cant like there car as much as someone who can build one, and that they have nothing important to say?

I dont really care for the drunken post, or things like that eather, I just skip past em (or add a useless post for fun) it does not mean there bad and should not be included.

Its a fun board where you can talk all the cars you want 'til you're blue in the face. OT is kinda like the "coffee break" from this site and its fun to get to know others and such.

I guess I forgot I'm adressing the community that believes 6gc's are sooo fast and handle sooo well. And hates honda for no reason. Oh wait- maybe it's cuz the competer car, the integra, owned us. LS, I might add. ****, the civic ex ownz us.

Now I know the celica's limitations, have appected them, and am trying to make the right mods here and there till I make the car a worthless money pit. Most of you never will. I'll tell you though. I like the 6gcs. Are they fast? No. Do they rock the curves? Not well. Are they sexy? They're no lotus, but I think it's hot. Do I wanna be different? Yes.

I'd like to make a celica decently fast. Or see some new ideas around here. I get on honda tech and constantly see new ideas forming and people pouring their hearts into their cars. And honda-tech is a supporting community. Granted, people are dicks to eachother, but the info is there. The answer to your questions are there

Well, when you wanna make a celica fast, you're on your own. Only a hand full of people have expirence. And that's limited to doing a 3s swap. (still good, dont get me wrong)

So i dunno what I'm doing here. Maybe I'm waiting for someone to get struck by lighting and have all the answers. Maybe if rice was discouraged like it is on other forms, people would start to think of going fast, instead of looking like sh*t. Then we could rise to be a respected car community.

You do have some valid points, but lets not forget that for every 100 Honda Civic enthusiasts, there's probably one sixth gen. Celica enthusiast. That's why only a handful of people have a 3S-GTE, and that's why help is harder to find for a Celica than a Civic.

Let me ask you this though. Do you think of yourself as at least being partly hyprocritical? I mean, you have Exel wheels and an aftermarket red/black steering wheel. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're bad or anything. I have Exel wheels myself and I spent money on a nice paintjob which does nothing for performance. But those wheels certainly aren't light, and the steering wheel only takes away money that could be allocated towards performance/handling parts.

Yet you do nothing but post negative comments about anyone who isn't doing performance/handling modifications to their Celica. Just doesn't make too much sense to me.

hmm wow... lets see ive poured my heart, blood, money, and life into my celica... is it fast hmm maybe who knows, without 6cg i would have never have gotten my celi to were it is... and who cares if someone posted that they painted there brake calipers... some poeple are as mechanically inclined as others and when they do something(as small as it may be) they are proud of it... i was proud of mayself when i did my engine swap, and i was just as proud of myself when i rebuilt the 3sgte after blowing it up... the point is that the celica my not be a great usdm car to fix up but the jdm versions of her were very nice and it gives a good base to start with... i choose the 6gc cause when i was in japan i fell in love with the gt4 not the skyline... and when i came back to the US i bought a 6gc a month later... you opinion of the celica not being the best car is YOUR OPINION not mine i think the celica handles like a dream on mountain roads with the right mods... and in its class hells i think its the best that is my opinion...

i think a good 99 percent of us know that a celica is not fast and it is not the fastest car in the world nor will it ever be. I dont think we all hate hondas i think we hate the fact that everyone has a honda. We take pride in our celicas cuz every 3 cars that passes you is not a celica.

Well, commer you raise great points. The ratio of celica to civic owner does make info harder to come by. As for my self explaination to my rice:
Wheels: I wanted to 5zigens, but they turned out to be expensive. I also wanted girls to look at my car (in a good way). So i went with the exels. Also, I REALLY wanted eagle f1s, and they didn't make em in my stock size.
Wheel: I didn't have an airbag in my steering wheel when I bought it. Imagin a steering wheel with a hole in it. Sucks. Well, I didn't like the feel of the stock one. The red sparco was a friends. He bought it 2 years ago while we were both still in ricer phases. Well, he was my best friend and died shortly after buying it....and it's just a rememborance thing. I also really enjoy how it feels. But yeah....i wish that felt was black or gray.

meh. I agree that off-topic is pointless .. but thats precisely its purpose. its an outlet to keep those sorts of posts out of the purely celica forums.

as for your claims that we all think the celica is fast, hate hondas, etc. I don't think thats true. if anything the majority of us are realists in the acceptance of our cars not being fast or handling all that well in stock form. isn't that why we are here? to learn about and eventually modify our cars?

Why is there always hate towards Hondas? They are great cars..There are parts out there and there is rice out there agreed..But now i start to see more and more clean honda's and S2000's

IMO thats not true. They arent fast stock, but as people on this board have proven and in think in the next year will prove more so, that the car has potential when the right stuff is applied.

I dont hate Honda's, I hate the 99% of ricers that own a honda and completely ruined the "tuning scene" with movies like Fast & Furious and they're damn altezza lights.

"I've suspected for some time now that my fiance has been having an affair. The usual signs. Phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up. She started going out 'with the girls' a lot recently although when I ask which girls it is always "Just some friends from work, you don't know them". I always look out for her taxi coming home but she always walks down the drive although I can hear a car setting off. As if she has got out of the car round the corner. Why? Is it not a taxi? I once picked up her cell phone just to see what time it was and she went beserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.

Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my fiance. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth but last night she went out again and I decided to check on her. I decided I was going to hide behind my car which would give me a view of the whole street so I could see which car she gets out of. It was while I was crouched down behind my car that I noticed rust around my rear wheel well.

Should I take it into a body repair shop or should I buy some stuff from the local auto shop and try to repair it myself?"

I agree with "The Reader", theres alot of double standards around here as to what is considered pointless. I like the threads about computers and stuff like that but Im sure some people that don't enjoy that stuff might consider it pointless.

My only thought would be for Amy and Natelie that like to post 20 threads a day, maybe condense it down into a misc thread instead of dumping 20 threads on pushing anything that others were interested in off the radar.

A "daily news" thread or "girl chat" for example.

Don't get me wrong either, some of your threads I take part in but it sucks when you go to check for replies on a thread you've been participating in and have to scan through 4 pages of nonsense to find it
