w00t! Got Another Sixth Gen! Options

So I got to work today, was browsing Craig's List, and came across a '95 Celica with a salvage title for sale. I was out of work on my way home and then to Seattle within minutes. Three hours later, I was the owner of this:













Yeah, it's pretty beat up, and purple, and a slushbox, and the tranny makes lots of noise at idle, but I'm very happy with it. Drove it three hours home with no problems at all, despite being told it has a blown head gasket. The car has 114,000 miles and the engine and tranny both feel strong and smooth.

Whaddaya guys think? I don't think it's too bad for $350.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. It's possible that the car has frame damage. That could be the reason for the salvage title and repaint. I gotta figure that out, and if so, then it's a parts car. Otherwise, it'll probably become my dad's or my bro's daily driver. Then at least we can still have one sixth gen. sitting in the driveway.

dang, that car is not that bad, purple sux, but the inside looks clean and with only a 114k on the motor it has to be worth more then 350 alone, sept if the tranny is busted, but still, $350 cant beat that, easy to make that even if you sell off some parts.

And you get the "steelies" you wanted for your hub cap spinners!

From looking at those pics, I doubt you've got frame damage. It looks like it'd be pretty easy to straighten the body, either that or you'll have to replace the door skin. If ya need any tips let me know dude.

i missed the memo that said that finding a nasty bent up ass 6th gen that will cost a couple thousand to make at all presentable was such a good thing? coomer...i think you have a problem with buying old run down crappy cars...you should focus more, and either get 1 really nice car, or put all that money into one of the other old crappy cars you have, and make one of them presentable...

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm liking the car even more...I just pulled off the seat covers to find perfect cloth tan seats(minor stains on passenger side, but I think they'll come out.)

flipside97LTD, I wouldn't think that the damage visible now would cause frame damage, but the car has been repainted, so who knows why it was painted. The first thing I need to do to this car is to take it somewhere reputable and have them look over the frame. The car doesn't ride well once it hits rough pavement or bumps at all, and the wheel has to be held to one side to go straight, but maybe it's just an alignment issue.

That was the main idea before I drove it. I planned on using some parts for my yellow Celica before I sell it, and then part out the rest. Not so much for profit, but more to help my 6GC friends out.

who said we HAD to praise? he asks what we think. i said. everyone is entitled to their opinion, and everyone can justify why they feel that way.

i just think hookin up one of the 4th gens, or makin the yellow celica pristine would be a much better option than to start 3-4 projects at the same time. that's my opinion.

i guess it's a nice find, but i know Coomer, and he'll dump money into, instead of parting it out and making a profit. that's why i say it's basically a money pit.

One right here too. I'm keeping my turquoise. Maybe I'm abnormal, but I really like the color. I just get so tired of the whites, blacks and silvers (no offense to any owners of white black and silver, they look great, their just not my fav.)

I've got no plans to change. I'm painter my new hood and bumper this color.

it has the premium speaker package, leather door panels and 3 piece component speakers for the front, with 2 factory amps!

unless im blind, thats what i see from the pics anyway..

the door panels alone are worth half the price of the car

i would make a decision as to what is better, the fourth gens or that car, sell your swapped celi, buy your g20, keep the purple one for a daily driver, its auto too so you could use it in traffic, or make it your winter beater.

sell the 2 fourth gens and your yellow celica and get an even nicer car than you imagined..

i agree with john though in having too many projects

also you seem to be entirely too nice to your family (wanting to give your old 4th gen to your bro, giving this one to your dad or bro) considering every 6 months we get a new post about how much you hate your family/town/etc..

maybe you should stop giving and start receiving, or atleast let them stop walking all over you
