I drive a 94 ST. 84k miles, excellent shape. But im tired of its sluggishness. I always have the damn thing slowed. But thats nothing new with people who have 6g's. Anyways. My shocks are blown (Lowered 2.5" inches, stock shocks, 18" rims). I knew it would happen. So im gonna buy Koni Yellows - 600$

And this summer im going to send my car to XAT Racing for the 3rd gen swap w/ custom exhaust, etc(6500$). Should i get the fuel management they offer (1400$). Also, just wondering, where can you find turbo upgrades, and basic aftermarket parts for the 3sgte?

Instead of selling my car and buying a 3000GT VR4, which i probably should do, the love for my celica is to great. Btw, i sold the bimmer.

Id work out a deal and put the 3rd gen in the 93' and put the 2nd gen in the 94'. You can only push a front wheel drive car so far HP wise. The path your on you seen like you'll find that limit one day. Why not put 3rd gen in the alltrac and build that to 400+ once you max out the st?

Just a thought. Id save the 1400 tho.

In my opinion, a properly tuned EMS is a must if you plan on going above 240whp in a 2nd gen or 270 whp in a 3rd gen. You can do it other ways but after tons of research, I just don't think its smart in the long run. My next upgrade will definitely have a standalone.

As for turbo upgrades and other aftermarket parts, I suggest www.mr2oc.com. There are literally dozens of people on that board with a ton of knowledge of tuning and relatively safe power upgrades on the 3sgte that would have been considered radical 5 years ago.

Here are some recommendations based on my research related to Celicas. First, not all turbo kits that bolt on to the 3s, will work in a 6gc application because of clearance issues (e.g. the Streetbrawler). Second, make sure you go with a full 3"+ exhaust. Getting a 2.5" exhaust is the only step I have taken so far that I have regretted. That includes (assuming you don't have any emissions laws) getting rid of the cats. Third, do NOT underestimate the power gains from an aftermarket intake manifold. Fourth, for power levels requiring EMS, do NOT consider injectors smaller than 720's. Fifth, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. Ask alot of questions after researching but do not put 100% faith in anyone, no matter how knowledgable they are. This is your project and you must have ownership in it because there will be numberous pains along the way in terms of expense, bumps, delays, bugs and breakdowns.

Good luck. Regards, Jay.

as far as turbo upgrades id suggest either the TKO Street brawler (uses a T3/T4) system, one of the ATS upgrade packages (their CT27 or TD06 kit) or a custom GT28RS kit (which will most likely be my route)

Im in MA.

How much more power would an aftermarket intake manifold get me? How much would it be? I dont want to go to hardcore, as in the car, is only FWD. But 300hp is around the range i would like to be at. I dont think 300hp would be hard with their Fuel managment system and 3rd gen engine. Ill be making 260-280 already i believe?

Random question: Could my 3sgte celica be a reliable year round car (we can get some real cold weather on the Cape)
and
What websites sell these upgrades for the 3sgte?

Dude I don't know about you. But a 99 M3. I'd have held onto that. Was it a stick? I mean, BMW....playa factor. But the 3rd gen 3s...you'd definately be makin some nice numbers. Who knows.

Pics of the bimmer?

nice choice on further modifying the celi. if I'm not mistaken you also had a evo at some point right?

I don't have any advice regarding your swap but I would suggest you go with a full coilover rather than the koni/coilover combo. the ride while improved over blown shocks is still pretty harsh and the price is not much more for a set of teins. had the teins been out when I got my set I would have definetly dished out the extra 200 dollars .. my 2 cents

the intake plenum restriction really doesnt come into play untill ~350 HP under high boost, id recommend gutting the T-VIS system before going out and buying a custom manifold... unless you are planning for 350-400 hp

The street brawler will not fit a 6th gen as the external wastegate sits too high. I have already checked into this.

Yeah, looking at this picture of the kit

user posted image

It should be pretty obvious that it won't fit wink.gif however, a t3/t4 turbo kit providing the exact results is pretty easy to custom build for the 3sgte

or a custom GT28RS kit

If you are going to go BB turbo, I would recommend the GT3071R rather than the disco potato. The compressor map on the GT28RS shows that it wouldn't hit its sweet spot on a 2.0 liter until well over 20psi. If you don't boost that high, you are going to have an overpriced ct20b.
